From Dave's 1990 series on the BBC. I made some movie titles to explain the context.

Someone asked me once how good was Dave Allan? I told him that on his unfunniest day, he was 10 times better than the rubbish that is around today. Comic genius

One of my favourite Dave Allen lines was when he was explaining how misleading statistics could be. He just stated it had been documented that 16% of all road accidents were caused by drunk drivers....therefore 84% were caused by you sober bastards!! The man had a great talent that hasn't been replaced.

I saw Dave Allen Live at the Bath Theatre Royal back in the early 1980's. The guy went on and on for over 2 hours without a break, just a small glass of whisky on the table next to him. I recall nearly being hospitalised, my sides ached so much afterwards. That was the fastest two hours I have ever lived through. Despite the circumstances, in this video he is still rather restrained compared with what he was like on stage. Still amazingly funny however. I recall seeing this video when it first went out on the BBC.Dave Allen was a real genius. It's so sad that the PC brigade have managed to spoil comedy for everyone. It's an even greater shame that Dave Allen is no longer with us.

It takes an Irishman to make you understand that English is a connundrumm of conflicted joined up words, without swearing & still be funny. Brilliant, Dave Allen.

Without doubt the greatest stand-up (or sit-down!) comedian of his generation... He is greatly missed R.I.P.

Notice always how he dressed which was a show of respect to the audience. No more, no less. Known to have never been late or unprepared at a promotional appearance: a pro.

I remember watching Dave Allen at Large when I was younger and couldn't stop laughing even after the show came to an end. I'm blessed being an American who can not only understand, but appreciate Irish/ British humor.

Dave Allen has to be one of the best comedians ever. I grew up watching the Dave Allen Show. It's a pity he's gone. I cant think of any current comedian that I like as much as Dave Allen.

Dave Allen was a comic I grew up looking at, okay he'd tackle any topic, sometimes his language was colourful but, he always had me in knots laughing. The people who complained obviuosly just couldn't understand the wit that went into his comedy, and obviously never laughed about much in their lives. He is still sadly missed by every one, as there are very few comedians of his calibre around anymore. As Dave himself used to say "Goodbye and may your god go with you. .."

I watched Dave Allen religiously when he was on our public television in USA. He is absolutely the best and I can remember every joke he told cause I repeated them a hundred times. Yes, rest in peace!

Nearly cried when I read the last few lines. His signature goodbye. Thanks for sharing and giving me back such good memories of an extremely funny, but humble man.

I hadn't seen this episode before, but it reminded me: My employers were bought out by a bunch of Americans at the end of the 90's. The new boss held the customary pep talk. He gave us a new business motto: "Can Do, Will Do, Do Do". The room fell apart. He was dumbfounded. No-one ever managed to take him seriously again. If anyone said "Can do...." we were off again. I believe the company went bust a year or so later.
