Conan wants to laugh, but he was trying to get the Tonight show gig, so he cannot really be himself in all these jokes where the punchlines are "offensive". Conan was PC before PC was even a thing. But mostly because he was trying to go up in life, and NBC is super PC. You can see when he got the TBS gig, he was super himself, especially immediately after he left NBC, and he was being "jobless", he was super funny at that time, until the recent changes to his show, when it became 30min, instead of 60. Whenever I need my Conan gig, I go back to his shows from that period. He was super funny then. especially all the remotes.

Same memory. Gym class the next day was the best, had a friend who would always watch & we would be howling remembering the sketches. One day I missed the episode, we’re walking around the track and he’s telling me about the ‘kneehigh park’ sketch with snoop & the muppet looking characters ... he’s telling me how this muppet is telling the kids he has a VD, pulls his pants down to show the kids and his puppet dick has stuff coming out of it, and the little girl starts throwing up 😂😂. I swore he was making it up just to fuck with me, I about pissed myself rewatching it that night on tivo. For what its worth, I’m white, the friend was black, comedians no longer being able to joke about stereotypes isn’t going to get us anywhere... plus, how else are we going to weed out the real racist assholes? Keep going Dave!!
