Unfortunately we have a history of tradition/hardheadedness. Our department started retraining after the Governors Island Study in 2010. I still run into people in classes who say all this is all voodoo and they will continue to fight fire the way they learned in rookie school, 30+ years ago. 😣

man this was one of the best classes i have ever had in the fire service.mr. Dodson was here in rocky mount nc today. what a honor to have him in our town for two days. being in the recruit class this year it made me understand alot.every firefighter should sit in on a class with mr, Dodson.

I took his class at FDIC. Best class I have ever had in 10 years in the fire service. This should be a NFA class and required for fire service/officers. Thanks you for helping keep us safe.

Make an impression early on the troops, and make good habits. Knowing the district, buildings, contents have always been basic tenets. Make sure smoke is a practice as well.

Yep, you can get 1,700 degrees on the ceiling. 😳 smoke can ignite at temperatures you may not even feel in your turnout gear! Remember to close the doors when you sleep!
