Lyrics:
He wakes up in the morning
Does his teeth bite to eat and he's rolling
Never changes a thing
The week ends the week begins
She thinks, we look at each other
Wondering what the other is thinking
But we never say a thing
These crimes between us grow deeper
Take these chances
Place them in a box until a quiter time
Lights down, you up and die
Goes to visit his mommy
She feeds him well his concerns
He forgets them
And remembers being small
Playing under the table and dreaming
Take these chances
Place them in a box until a quieter time
Lights down, you up and die
Driving in on this highway
All these cars and upon the sidewalk
People in every direction
No words exchanged
No time to exchange
When all the little ants are marching
Red and black antennas waving
They all do it the same
They all do it the same way
Candyman teasing the thoughts of a
Sweet tooth tortured by the weight loss
Programs cutting the corners
Loose end, loose end, cut, cut
On the fence, could not to offend
Cut, cut, cut, cut
Take these chances
Place them in a box until a quieter time
Lights down, you up and die

Not a huge fan of this band but...what energy and proficiency they have individually and even more collectively. It's impressive how they all feed off each other and trade off shining moments unselfishly without getting in each other's way. Ego free ensemble. Dave and his band are the antithesis of so much that is wrong with this Karaoke, American idol, the voice approach to music. They don't sound like anyone else and aren't interested in piggybacking on someone else's work. So many now get famous for singing other people's songs. Doing your own thing, being original, is always refreshing to see and hear even if it's so rare nowadays.

This is as pure as a live band that is more then a band they play from inside there souls and it spreads .I'm almost in tears .your comment made my day enjoy and remember to smile and just be good and good will follow

I mainly listen TO Kevin Gates, but IN any song that drums ARE playing IS MY favorite!! I'm no drummer BUT yeah he's a great drummer!!! The drums carry THE BEAT AND tempo OF the SONG!! Any SONG!!! One slip UP AND THE whole thing IS over!! So yeah u GOT to be on point!! He's making IT look easy!! When ITS NOT!!! I'm 48 NOW!! But I always wonder what "IF"!! now that I'm older, I now understand WHY SHE didn't, SHE didn't want TO hear ALL THAT noise trying to learn HOW play!!! Rip MOM!! I love YOU!!

I was driving in my car on my way home from work one day in 1995 and heard this song on the radio for the first time. I also bought the CD on the spot after hearing "Crash", not even knowing who they were, listened to the entire CD that night, and it stayed in Slot One of my CD changer for FIVE YEARS after that... that's how incredibly good that album and this group is. 💯

BURT SWAYZE ha. So you searched or saw a dmb video and needed to comment? And you’re unaware that there are different kinds of people and music in the world? Interesting choice. The reason for doing that was…To change our mind? To be honest, i do not like listening to the whole band, but just dave by himself or with tim reynolds. Sometimes i find tim annoying, but hearing dave solo made me appreciate the band a bit more. Listen to “the stone” on charlie rose. It’s before he played with the band. Learn how to play it on guitar, and i bet you may like them. He played many of his songs differently. The voice you just have to get used to. And watch vh1 storytellers with dave and tim.

I had a chance to meet him before a festival in Pensacola years ago and it was mind opening. This guy is just an average guy who plays guitar. As a matter of fact, I didn't even know who he was until late in the night when he was asked to play some music by the event host. We were at the event host's house and he grabbed a guitar and started messing around. He laughed at me when I said I didn't know who he was and explained that he plays in a little band and is performing tomorrow at the Sausage festival. The next day, I found a CD of him and I couldn't believe that I just spent hours with this guy who said 'I play in a little band'

No one has ever sounded like the Dave Matthews Band. There's no genre to define their music. Really, Boyd Tinsley bringing the song home with a hoedown fiddle riff? That's crazy - except it's fantastic. The energy of their live performance is infectious. And Carter on the drums? Like a defensive end sacking the QB. Charlottesville, Va is very proud.

James Maloney i disagree a little. as of late, their recording "style" and how their albums come together is different. in the 90s dave wrote everything. band added their piece on top of it. was a little more pure and had some magic that albums since busted stuff havent had. its more of a group think process. they are recording songs now which end up just being a skeleton of the song in years to come as they develop them more and more

i dont know if id call their music simple but. I play in a dave mathews acoustic cover band and, its alot harder to put together then it seems. His music comes together the way it does cause everyones part its completely different.

@@patch5588 the list is awesome, not many people focus on the drummer, of course being a Who fanatic Moon the Loon is top of my list, then Bonham the thing that pert has going is he is still jamming today, never a real Rush fan but he is fabulous, there is a big You Tube storm over Elijah Wood drummer for Shania Twain, not a fan very rudimentary and basic, hits it hard but no chops, Tal Bergman who plays for Bonamassa is awesome check him out

When Dave looked at the drummer. I'm a drummer. They both knowed the volin solo was special only musician. Know that one special moment. That moment makes it all worthwhile. He got down when you see a musician smile at each other. That's the lick. Every thing is clicking. The best feeling in the world. Listen to me the best high in the world. Period!!!
