I got to go to his Red Rocks fundraiser show for Katrina victims in 2005. He had already played-I think-three nights in a row and added this one. You could tell he was completely exhausted but put on the most beautiful event.

@@rebbeshort as a teenager, my best friends dad (who looked identical to Jon Lennon) used to play all the songs from the 60s and 70s for us on his acoustic guitar. Every now and then he'd play illegal smile , and that is how I learned who mr. Prine was. Great memories. Stay healthy friends.

I think there are going to be new JP fans popping up during this pandemic. I was listening to John's music (while in lockdown, and drinking beer) the day before we all found out he was stricken with the virus. RIP John.

Thanks Dave John Prine was one of my favorite. It was so sad to see him go he had so much to give he'll always be missed. And Dave Matthews Band is one of my favorites. About the bus s*** happens Happens what we need today is peace love and understanding and remembering a great man who lost his life to a virus that's killing lots of people right now.

I had the immense pleasure of seeing John Prine perform at the Cambridge Folk Festival. He was frail but utterly mesmerising. This is my favourite song of his.

John's music was descriptive of my generation, i.e. "Sam Stone", "Illegal Smile", et.al. Lucky to have seen him a few times. To hear his work by Dave played in tribute very heartwarming. DMB is my favorite current live band. Leonard Cohen is gone too, & Tom Petty. Tough time for my singer/songwriter heroes.

When I hear this song and think of the lyrics, I imagine I'm standing in front of a mirror singing to myself. That's what a year of isolation will due to a mind influenced by great story telling.
