A magical story --- I bought my 73 in (about) 1973.... I now understand why I have never had to "touch" mine.... Dismantled it when I got it, fine sanded the keys to reduce friction, gave it dose of talcum powder and then silicon spray ( new product in those days) and have only tweaked the tuning once since.... quality wins!

The balanced action was something that I knew he would appreciate, but I just knew that from an engineering standpoint he would love the elegance of that variable tone control. Great video, glad you could have him!

I think Dave sold me my Rhodes seventy three stage piano in 1978 at Jacks house of music in Sacramento . Is he in nor-cal still ? I still have that piano safely stored in my home on almost new condition . I’ve simply stored it since college . Time to get a new fuse and see what it sounds like !

What a wonderful visit! Great job Vintage Vibes! We’re the proud custodians of a Fender-Rhodes mark 1 seventy three, that I restored during pandemic with your parts. Formerly owned by my neighbor, Warren G………who was going to throw it out😱 Greetings from SoCal😎

Dave, if you guys are still in the Sacramento area I live in fair oaks, I would love to pay you to take a peek at mine ! It’s traveled very little, a few family reunions and high school jazz band in 78-81. I’ve kept it store in a temp control den close up in a corner for nearly ;0 year opening and playing it every 5-10 years. I have a baby grand that’s my go to but could never part with this piece . My kids don’t play. I want to leave it open and play some chuck mangione who was my inspiration to buy it .

Huh, I didn't know about the damper comb thing. What is the advantage of forgoing the comb and doing the dampers individually?
