I bought 2 of Dave’s prints from him last year and had the pleasure of meeting in person when I picked them up. It was Tom Penny’s blunt slide at Dwyer that became the Transworld cover, and Heath lipping El Toro that I now have both hanging in my living room. He took the time to tell me the back stories of the photos and what happened the day he took them. Great guy and legend skate photographer.

Just a question.... if you had ...let's say. A terrible experience with him as your boss ..would you tell us he was scum boss and you wished him harm.. or something along those lines... would love to have such a platform to tell truth about a few of my old bosses .. prob wouldn't do it being a pretty positive person mostly. ( unless on drunken litty bender) 😆 either way. Thanks for sharing bud

I used to skate at Meanwhile and Wurzel (Deathbox) would be tearing that place up. Caught Graham Machachran doing 540's at Kennington once and would run into them again later at Southbank where Mac was doing freestyle...this is around 88. I had no idea that formed Flip and lead to Penny, Rowley and Rune. That original Deathbox team was special. Loved the Tom and Heath stories.

Grew up on the skateboard mag… got a free subscription from active back in the day and was a yearly subscriber after that for years following. read them all cover to cover starting from the back cover always for some reason… first issue I got was the sheckler kickflip cover if I remember right it was a cover… most memorable cover is BA doing a wallie over a rail at a BART station in spitfire socks looking cool af… forever my favorite skate mag thank you Dave swift and thank you nine club

Hearing the story about Heath [Kirchart] slamming to the ground on the lipslide at El Toro. Reminds me of him slamming on that steep 18 stair rail. I guess he never got it and some other kids landed the lipslide on 18 years later.

Can you tell the guests to talk into the mic. The audio is all fucked up. Gotta turn the volume super high to here Dave then back down with Chris & Kelly’s loud ass voice almost blows my speakers out. Plus the first 30 minutes Dave kept tapping the hell out of the table. The mic was picking it all up.
