Love it! Atleast for myself Ilike longer videos, like 35-45 minutes are perfect. Like a TV-show episode. Especially with production quality being this high it makes sense to watch this as a show on TV. Sure there I get why people pop out 5-7 minute vids that people can watch on their phone while on crapper but if I can choose I'll take the long episode over the short.

He has an incredible squat it only lacks specificity. In my opinion strongmen should do safety squat bar or front squats unless there's a squat event like in this year's Arnold's coming up where they need low bar.

Coach Joe. Would you show a workout with tire flip superset with chain/sled drag? Thrall says flips are a type of front squat and drags are like KOToes guy reverse sled drags. It would seem to me that this would be a Strongman “Litvinov”. I have been a fan of Duffin’s shoes the Bearfeet Ursa, hightops, ever since I saw Licis use them.

when you keep talking low-bar/high-bar for squatting, i'm not sure i follow completely. odes that mean where the bar rests on your upper back or across your traps?
@thomasbrown7328
@thomasbrown7328 2 жыл бұрын
The book starting strength goes into big detail on low bar. As they talk about that gets into what high bar is but that author is REALLY into low bar in order to recruit glutes/hip extensors maximally.

@@danielpgoldstein lots os folks mean low bar is below the spine of the scapula and high bar is above that spine. Apparently when most people are told to put a bar on their back for the first time they instinctively put it above that spine.

With high bar, the barbell rests on the traps. The back is more upright, the knees travel further forward, often in front of the toes, and it is very quad dominant. The hips tend to travel nearly straight down and straight up. Hence the cue, hips up. Most people high bar squat because they don’t know any different and it is more intuitive. Olympic weightlifters and cross fitters high bar squat because it translates more readily to the snatch and clean, which essentially involve a front squat. With low bar, the barbell rests below the upper traps on the rear deltoids. This takes some practice (and deltoid muscle) to do. The back is more bent over, the knees generally stay over the toes, and it utilizes less quads and more posterior chain. The cue is more like, sit (the butt) back. It’s very much like a box squat. If your goal is hypertrophy or the highest 1RM possible, low bar. Powerlifters do a low bar sumo squat. The low bar can be more aggravating though if you have back issues. Check out the squat-hinge continuum. Also, Alan Thrall has a good video on the differences. Arguably, the lower body combination may be the front squat and deadlift. You hit the posterior chain with the deadlift, so do a highly quad dominant squat. IMO the only people who need to low bar squat are powerlifters.
