What makes BJJ so good is that you get to train at close to 100% intensity against resisting opponents with close to 100% of your techniques every day! You can't do that in striking arts or against weapons.

For all you people who are spelling the Japanese art Jiu-Jitsu, you are wrong Japanese Jujutsu is where most modern martial arts are derived from! The JJJ artist in this video did not follow any of the training he may or may not have had! Stop hating on JJJ, BJJ wouldn/t exist without it! And a Gracie went to Japan and got Owned by a Japanese Jujutsu artist!

Of course the bjj guy won, it's the specific art he has been trained in, if this were an actual fight were punches and kicks could be thrown, there's a good chance the jjj guy would smash him. It's like asking someone who can speak many languages fairly well to speak against someone who was born under one language and is fluent at it.

To add to the dirty fighting in BJJ argument thing, I'd like to point out, if you went for a bite or an eye gouge, your opponent would likely use dirty techniques too. Its a case of whether you actually want to escalate a fight to that level or not.

I do jjj and I'l absolutely agree for one-on-one competitions like this or MMA, bjj is 10x better. They're different arts for different purposes. BJJ is using the principles of jujitsu to win a fight against one unarmed person, JJJ is using the same principles to survive a fight against multiple people, or someone who's armed. Great video :)

now this was fast but you can tell how little the JJJ knew. when passing he broke a golden rule "both arms out or both in" and when the bjj fighter put his calf on the back of the JJJ fighters neck he had no reaction intill the legs were hooked. however the biggest give away was once the triangle was locked...he turned to the wrong side. the JJJ fighter made the triangle TIGHTER.

nobody can even try to hide the fact that bjj is THE style for groundwork, they are mustard at it and it's proven. I'm really looking forward to throwing myself into bjj, i started jjj a while ago and wanted to get a bit of competency first but love bjj so much, seriously coming from a jjj student, bjj is the stuff for the ground but thats not to say the styles should be separated and one labelled as better, the principles are pretty similar anyway

You must understand the context of JJJ. JJJ is a very tiny piece of a whole combat system taught to the Samurai. JJJ makes no sense anywhere on earth but a feudal Japanese battle field. JJJ is a weapon based fighting style, it was used by people who fought with swords in armor and occasionally got into clinches, where they could do disarms, wrist locks or sweeps. MMA is a "realistic" sport fight. A historical Samurai battle was a REAL fight. So why did no one use "boxing, MT, BJJ or wrestling"?

@BlackShinobiShozoku I've known Japanese for a long time and lived there for almost a decade. I worked as a translator. I know exactly what I am talking about. I'm on E-Budo I've been a member since 2001. Many of the guys there are old friends. Again you are only thinking of ONE system of romanization. There are several that doesn't make the others wrong. We can continue this soley in Japanese if you doubt me.

First mistake of the black belt ... letting the guy pull full guard, could have avoided that by simply changing his stance to sideways ... then, the worst that would happen is the brown belt pulls half guard and half guard is way better than going into BJJ's full guard (e.g. Fedor vs Werdum or even this fight). Second, why go on the ground, that's exactly where the BJJ brown belt wants to be ... stand up and try for a takedown then posture up (once on the ground) and win by points :-)
@Lordasia
@Lordasia 13 жыл бұрын
@BlackShinobiShozoku Incorrect. The kana for JU/JIU is a JI(じ) with a chisai YU (ゅ) to create JU (じゅ) the actual pronunciation is a blend of the JI plus YU so it would phonetically sound like a sharp JEE with a softer YU. You are again making a mistake. JIU JITSU is not a mispronunciation its perfectly fine and yes even koryu systems will use it when they romanize even now.

A great example of the sport of BJJ. Starting down that low and coxing the opponent into the position to be taken down was an excellent strategy. Against a BJJ practitioner of you end up on the ground is game over. In a self defence situation it'll just get you kicked in the head though.

(Quiz on empty hands combat): I always would like to know this answer: In a real fight to defending his life, who has the winner's advantage: A master of karate with full knowledge of kata’s bunkai and makiwara experienced or a Wing Chun master trained in wooden dummy (mudjong). Who’s the one that would survive? Which are the technical difficulties of each style. I mean what are the better chances of each fighter going through the 'handicap analysis' Example: Ju-Jutsu vs. Karate and so on.

JJJ is not the Way of the Sword, Ken-Jujutsu and Lai-Jujutasu are those arts. Japanese Jujutsu is where BJJ, Aikido, Judo, and most modern Martial Arts can find its base. The reason nobody used the MA you listed is because ,aside from wrestling, they didn't exist! JJJ is a combat style martial art, and they trained "WITHOUT" weapons as much as they did "WITH" weapons.

@MrGroupkiller you're not getting it. BJJ is ONLY meant for 1 vs 1. It's a great martial art, absolutely wonderful, but ONLY for 1 vs 1. If it's 1 vs 5 then you'll get stomped without a doubt. When you take JJJ, another equally wonderful martial art, you have MORE of a chance to get out of there safe because it doesn't only deal with 1 vs 1 situations. It's like if you were to have a gun fight with 6 people. Would you choose a musket with 1 shot, or a handgun with 12 rounds. thats all there is:)

This was originally the reason for the pursuit of scientific approach to find a reasonable explanation for the facts mentioned below (Main subject here is the knowledge of fighting with empty hands) Conclusion: “As a sport activity Martial Arts aren't real” so only the military men know better this hidden truth. e.g. They’ll never smash the opponents throat, break a leg, neck bones or blind a fellow during a sport competition and of course just because It’s not a valid strategy.

Please reread my comment. You reversed where I said "beat" and "handle". In my experience (1 year bjj, 4 years JJJ), I think BJJ is a much better art for 'take down one guy and submit them' or "win", but JJJ is better for quickly repelling an attack (a standing throw/lock/disarm from a dynamic attack) such that you could then repel a second incoming attack, before escaping/etc. If you go to the ground with an attacker, you cant defend against anyone else. Different arts for different purposes.

Most martial arts training that spars medium - hard will beat your mythical street fighter 9 out of 10x. You think a guy who trains choking and breaking the limbs of resistant opponents of different body types for several hours daily/weekly is less dangerous than a guy who may have had 10-20 30 second fights in his entire life 🤣 that's what is funny.

@@algierssolja if that's your definition of a good street fighter then I guess you have a reason to be so smug about it. There is a reason why eye gouging, poking, groin strikes, ear and hair grabs and the rest are forbidden in every regulated sport. Those are extremely dangerous and effective techniques. There is also a reason why hits to the back of the head are forbidden also. If those were allowed - 90% of the wrestlers in ufc and such promotions would suck ass. There is a very big gap between sanctioned sports and actual martial arts. To each their own. One has advantage when both parties are kept safe by the rules and ref. Another when there are no rules. Once again, I'm talking about a person who knows his shit. Not just a random Joe schmuck. Those won't even last 10 seconds against a trained fighter of any kind.

Well if you have never done or competed in bjj you wont understand what David is doing there. For David he is simply so confident against this guy he has his hands on his knees to start the fight, by acting so cocky he waits for his opponent to come to him and by doing so catchs the guy right away in the triangle. How can he loose points for falling down and putting someone in a choke instantly? dosent make sense but i know you think falling on your back is the dumbest thing. Apparently not

That's incorrect. Bjj is a modern martial art and most schools the self defense curriculum handles armed opponents with knives and guns. This has always been the case with bjj; however those unfamiliar with the art only see submission grappling matches on youtube and come up with bullshit. Bjj is not burdened with tradition. Hélio lost at times and when he did he learned what he could and named the move after his opponent. JJJ is for armored opponents in battlefields that no longer exist.

@BlackShinobiShozoku You are incorrect again. ROMANJI literally means ROMAN characters. It is an attempt to match the sounds with the characters. There is not one standard. "Koryu experts" aren't don't make the systems. Linguistic scholars due. Don Dreager wan't a linguistic scholar he used one of the systems that was in place, just like everyone else. Just like the Japanese try to use katakana to match western words it is not an exact science.

I don't believe that, that is a jjj black belt. If you're jjj in a bjj contest you have to enter under a white belt and vice versa, or at least yellow. Also the jjj guy had no concept of ground work to be immediately caught in sangaku jima. The jjj dan grades would be really good on floor work, or wouldn't have been stupid enough to be dragged down so quickly

ok i agree with you their, if there is more than one guy it's not a good idea to go to the ground. But i disagree with the triangle, if you get a top level guy to lock in a triangle on you marcello garcia for example you would have no time to smash his balls or slam him you would be out in 4 seconds.

Of course a BJJ Brown Belt'd win against a JJJ Black Belt-groundwork is BJJ forte. t the same token, a Judoka could beat a Jujitsuka in randori and a Karateka could beat him in Kumite. JJJ is good for both the streets AND MMA-if this was MMA rules, the JJJ guy could use punches,kicks,throws AND grappling so it'd be more even. Anyway,there only seems to be 1 belt difference between the 2.

@AidenMansour Just currious as to how you figure that a battlefield tested art whose purpose was to be used against an opponent trying to kill you and whose purpose was to kill said opponent would be mostly ineffective against against non-battlefield tested arts especially an art as young as BJJ. In reality it comes down to individuals and how well they are trained (regardless of art).

as i said, JJJ is more complete. and in the streets where going down is not an option..... i said all of it already. BJJ is a competitive sport. JJJ is a martial art with long history. BJJ is very useful in 1x1 but again...some people just will not go down that easily. and look the fight of grcie with kimo. that huge aloof sucks. he sucks at fighting. still he gave him a tough time , to the "unbeatable one". it clearly showed that BJJ is still not complete yet
