Before Morrell could even speak Benavidez's name he needs to fight Caleb "Sweet Hands" Plant and Andrade and then prove himself that he's ready to fight Benavidez . In spite of That Benavidez said in this interview that he's willing to give Morrell a pay day opportunity to fight him. My opinion is that that Morrell needs to prove himself before having the privilege to fight Benavidez. Morrell hasn't even fought a fighter in the caliber of Anthony Dirrell Yet he wants the easy way in the big pay day? That's an insult to Sweet hands and Andrade.

Not only does that legitimise him as a challenger but it also makes the makes him a bigger star and a bigger name and makes the Benavidez fight all the more appetising. If you weren’t such a casual you would know that beating the guys that your rival defeated and doing it better than they did is the best way to build a fight. Manny Pacquiao did it. He beat Hatton, Mosley, and Delahoya after Floyd already did it and he tried to beat them better than Floyd did. Crawford beat Shawn Porter and Kell Brook after Spence beat em and same story. Getting common opponents with your rival and beating them better is the best way to make yourself relevant and to build the big fight and make the casual and hardcore fans demand it more. I'm not being racist but Benavidez comes across as a cold-blooded Mexican gangster. Cold. Calculated. Emotionless. Venomous. Benavidez is looking for Bivol vs Beterbiev winner and I also think he'll be looking to fight Yarde, Calum Johnson and Calum Smith in order to build an audience and fan base in the UK. Smart g. Morrell would be best off waiting 3 fights to cook up his resume and gain negotiation leverage for a bigger purse as a bigger draw once they collide. Hopefully Hearn and PBC let it cook for a year. Give us 2 or 3 spectacular showdowns before giving it everything in the ring against each other. That fight will be ferocious. His plan makes sense. Fighting a good but older guy at 175 and if he wins he’s in line to fight the Beterbiev/Bivol winner. That’s the best route for his career and should be the priority. Morrell got a step up in quality but still a safe fight in August then should be looking at a Buatsi.

Think about what DB just said, second half of his career. This fight, then beterbiev bivol winner, canelo next, then Morell. Canelo will only fight Benavidez if Benavidez agrees to come back down to 168lbs and accepts a rehydration clause. He’ll wait until Benavidez fully adjusts to 175lbs and only then he’ll call Benavidez. Then if Benavidez rightfully refuses to come back down and refuses the catchweight, Canelo and his fanboys will call Benavidez a duck and a fraud despite the obvious fraud-duck being Canelo. @@Namehere129Dude should move on with his career and forget about Canelo is the point. Canelo only gonna fight Benavidez after Benavidez has three consecutive fights at 175lbs. Then Canelo will call him and demand the fight be at 168lbs with a rehydration clause. Benavidez will be so depleted he’ll get beat worse than Spence and Haney did. Then his fanboys will call him the greatest ever. Benavidez’s obsession with Canelo will be the end of his career
