I've seen #1 before, so I knew it was his. It's based on a story he heard while on a trip he took with Iman to South Africa: When the first Europeans showed up there, the people already living there thought the white people were the ghosts of their ancestors, since the belief was that your ancestors could appear to you as white ghosts. Of all the paintings of Bowie's that I've seen, his only works that I really like are his portrait of Japanese writer Yukio Mishima, and his portrait of Iggy Pop. They're highly derivative of Egon Schiele, to be sure, but compelling just the same.

SoSallyCanWait if we were standing side by side someone would have had to announce their choice first. Doesn't invalidate or cheapen your observation.
