If you were an alcoholic, you’ll always will be, even when you sober up for decades, one drink is just a bridge you should never cross. Not everyone that drinks is an alcoholic, but a recovered alcoholic knows you should not even try, not even socially. It takes awhile to accept. He’s spitting facts. -I’m an Alcoholic by nature, sober by treatment and strong will.

No power at all Uma, you got completely the wrong idea if that's what you think. To admit you are wrong doesn't make you right. He also said "I am an alcoholic", not I was an alcoholic. To be addicted to drinking in the first place is a sign of weakness, not a sign of power.

You have it wrong. Bowie knew his weakness and was sorry for the pain it caused others. He was staying clean and sober and rebuilding his relationships. He knew that just one drink would destroy it all and that's why he said that he was an alcoholic. I compare it to diabetes. There are certain foods that a diabetic can't eat just everything because it can have a serious outcome. As long as the diabetic sticks to a proper diet things will go well. A diabetic will always be a diabetic. An alcoholic will always be an alcoholic.

That's great you have stopped and are sober, but you ARE an alcoholic, not WAS, it doesn't go away just because you can't or don't drink, 1 drink and it's all over again, that's why us drug addicts or alcoholics are that for the rest of our lives. I met David on several occasions when he was an active cocaine addict. While waiting for his drugs at the Tower Theater in Philadephia. They played the Dali’ movie over and over that was supposed to cue his opening set but he said he couldn’t possibly go on without getting high first. The crowd was becoming rowdy.. The delivery was finally made backstage and he came on instantly calming the crowd. Although his talent superseded the drugs , his personal life was a mess. So happy to hear these statements and testimony from the great man.

@@DarkMuj myself and many of my peers have all realized for some time that we were incredibly lucky …. Blessed even to have not only been present but to have been a part of an incredibly large music family and also to have learned our craft on the worlds most iconic gear of that or any other time. Most people don’t understand that if and when you happen to meet or even bump into an iconic star or celebrity that you speak to them like they were your neighbor, and 99% of the time they will respond with warm friendliness and take the time to chat for a few moments or longer. Now I’m not talking about going over to their table in a restaurant but I’ve actually bumped into several celebrities in bathrooms of restaurants and concert halls mostly here on the east coast. And even though that was awkward and I certainly didn’t interrupt them doing whatever they came in to do but I couldn’t help but start a chat on the way out or in the case of Ozzy with Tony Iommi in the public bathroom at the Spectrum in Phila. I had to ask, “ what the hell are you doing going to the public bathroom?” And he said the opening act had a crazy party going on in the backstage restroom and they just had to go. Hahahahaha They are all just regular people is my point. I hope you get to bump into some of your heros . It can happen anywhere and anytime

You were given the gift of sobriety by your God of your understanding…..You are recovered from a seemingly hopeless state of mind and body….So many experts say you can only be recovering from this disease….Thats where the term dry drunks comes from….People will argue that you are always going to be a recovering alcoholic or addict…These are the people who will never ever receive all the gifts freely given by their higher power…..They are an important example of not completely receiving the full gifts and promises that are written in the Big Book of AA…..It’s real easy to find this message it’s on the very first page before moving on to the next chapter……

Bowie was certainly a strange specimen but an honest and tender man at heart. He owns his flaws and weaknesses which today's popstars do everything to hide and cover up. his music and art brought colour, vibrance and cosmic energy to the musical world across many genres and has made him arguably one of Britain's most iconic and influential singers and artists. RIP David. You may have lost the battle with cancer but your legacy will go on winning the hearts and minds of aspiring musicians and singers forever ❤
