Since you are doing originals vs remakes may I suggest David Bowie vs Wallflowers the song Heroes. It’s a pretty big difference in tones I think you may like. Plus the lead singer of The Wallflowers is Bob Dylan’s son Jacob. Also with these original vs remake songs it would be interesting to see your reaction to them back to back in one video by your reaction to the differences right after I’d love to hear,

Bowie was, socially, ahead of his time. Back in the early eighties he called out MTV for the lack of black artists on the channel. He had noticed that they played almost exclusively white artists. He asked in an interview why they didn’t play more videos by black artists. It changed very quickly after that.
@cinaedpv3 жыл бұрын
@Gerald H To be honest, this was back in the beginning. MTV started in 1980. The interview was in ‘83. There was not a lot of videos being produced then compared to later. Not every song got a video like later.

I also recall the version by Lulu on Top of the Pops back in the day. Pretty sure David Bowie played Saxophone and provided backing vocals on the track.

I love how Ronsons guitar fades in on the climbing riff.

Don’t watch it on KZfaq. It’s had graphics added and IMO, it’s stupid. Here’s the actual video: vimeo.com/348064534 So good! If you don’t know much about Klaus Nomi, you should look him up. Fascinating guy with a fabulous voice. The other guy is Joey Arias. I don’t know a lot about him. The outfit David is wearing is very similar to one worn by Nomi. David’s is copied from Klaus Nomi’s style.

If you ever want to flip it around and here David Bowie doing covers, he has an album called PIN UPS, where he covers several artist's, including Pink Floyd's "See Emily Play" (those two together would be a great reaction video, especially since we just did THE WALL. "See Emily Play" is 180 degree away from that!, a rare, HAPPY pop song from the Syd Barrett days, more psychedelic...)
