Wild Eyed in my opinion is Bowie's greatest story-telling and composition effort. I was, and still am, a huge fan. He's done a lot of terrific stuff, especially early on, and I was part of it after '72 or so as a teen. I wore the records to no grooves left. Some of his songs are like the bible to me. This live performance has the studio song perfect.

I was even lucky enough to own the original Space Oddity single on the Phillips label which had Freecloud as the B side track, a real collectors item which was stolen. I had a dream about him last night, once again I woke up to feel different. He’s been in my dreams three times now, and every time he has, he’s always amazed me. The first one I had, he was still in this era, the red hair, interesting clothes, looks from people who weren’t different. He walked down the staircase to where I was sitting, and he just wrapped his arms around me and laid his head down on my lap, I put my hand on his head and kissed him there, then I woke up. That dream still makes me sad. The second dream was very different. He was in the 80’s era, his hair blonde and his clothes were very “normal” since people always look at things that way. He was in a room, and were enough he was stirring something in this huge pot. I walked in and looked around, while he kept working. We only looked at another once, and that was a beautiful moment for me. The third one I had just this past night. I was standing right it front of him, he looked just like he did in the last, blonde hair, that clothing, but this time he was fully aware I was there, and I hugged him so long it felt unreal, and he hugged back. I said something along the line of, “oh my god your here!” And he just smiled and shook his head, saying something which I sadly can’t remember. I almost cried after all of these dreams, for dreaming doesn’t come enough for me, mostly nightmares when they do, and this was such a beautiful turn. I hope to see David again, I miss him, it feels so real in my dreams.

Solemn faced The village settles down Undetected by the stars And the hangman plays the mandolin before he goes to sleep And the last thing on his mind Is the Wild Eyed Boy imprisoned 'Neath the covered wooden shaft Folds the rope Into its bag Blows his pipe of smolders Blankets smoke into the room And the day will end for some As the night begins for one Staring through the message in his eyes Lies a solitary son From the mountain called Freecloud Where the eagle dare not fly And the patience in his sigh Gives no indication For the townsmen to decide So the village Dreadful yawns Pronouncing gross diversion As the label for the dog Oh "It's the madness in his eyes" As he breaks the night to cry: "It's really me Really you And really me It's so hard for us to really be Really you And really me You'll lose me though I'm always Really free" And the mountain moved its eyes To the world of realize Where the snow had saved a place For the wild eyed boy From Freecloud And the village Dreadful cried As the rope began to rise For the smile stayed on the face Of the wild eyed boy From Freecloud And the women once proud Clutched the heart of the crowd As the boulders smashed down from the mountain's hand And the magic in the stare Of the wild eyed boy said "Stop, Freecloud They won't think to cut me down" But the cottages fell Like a playing card hell And the tears on the face Of the wise boy Came tumbling down To the rumbling ground And the missionary mystic of peace/love Stumbled to cry among the clouds Kicking back the pebbles From the Freecloud mountain

Love this video and how it was made especially the views of the audience in the first rows. It was more than just a rock concert for them. It was if they knew exactly who Bowie was singing about.

I was there. So lucky to see all the Bowie concerts, right up to the last. Always got goosebumps and cried. From the age of 15 to 52. He spanned all ages. I miss him so much.

I saw an interviue with David Bowie many years ago something he said... '' I try to learn something new every day''.. That stuck with me all these years .I'm 65 years old and not a day has gone by I've not thought of him saying that .I want to thank you David, where ever you are, for that inspiration. A gift from a man I consider a friend I never met ..

2:32 to 3:34 , one of the most beautiful and sad elegy. This is the best song (or performance) of the last show of Ziggy. Maybe with 'The Width of a Circle', 'Moonage Daydream' or 'Ziggy Stardust' or...

Bowie was the only thing that made sense when i was a kid and i clung to his music for sanity and life . Find myself right back there in middle age , as we ignore climate warnings , vote for people who dont give a fuck about the people , and anaesthetise the kids so much with gadgets that they dont have the spark of rebellion anymore . Bowie sounds as totaly radical as he ever did , leading the way for those who try to become individuals in the face of so much bleak fucking grey mediocrity . RocknRoll will save your soul !

Even as someone too young to have Ziggy Stardust around as a kid, your words resonate. Be thankful you had that. It means something to me, decades after the fact. I can but imagine the power at the time. I despair at the grey mess we have become...I see no beauty nor no otherworldly talent anymore. Cherish what you had.

Just like you my I clung to music as a boy it's all I had. I remember seeing Bowie on TOTP 1970 I was just seven and I wanted him as my big brother My childhood was Hell but I still have music . It's so tragic that David is gone!

I was lucky enough to see him at the M.C.G,late (late 70's, early '80's), camped out with my sisters for 2 nites for tickets-, 2nd row, middle stage, pissed down all nite & was one of the most amazing experiences you could EVER have....was my only escape from the purgery (?) that was our 'home', Give me David Bowie as God any day- idology at its best !!!!☇....& WHAT a Beautiful Man
