David is a fantastic and impassioned speaker and I hope that he continues telling their stories, whether spoken, written or in song. Why would anyone still assume Roger Waters' use of the star of David to be an anti-semitic message when Roger himself has said that it isn't and explained why it isn't? If he was actually anti-semitic or trying to spread an anti-semitic message, it would be grossly out of line with everything else he has ever spoken of in his personal philosophy and songwriting.

He is entitled to his opinion, however, the pig in question, was a negative symbol to be torn apart at the end of the show, It was meant to be offensive in that sense. Mr Water's father and grandfather both died in WW2 fighting against the nazis. There is nazi-esque imagery all over that album and film and it has been there for 30 some odd years. That album, and the show in question, is and always has been dark satire. It's art, which sometimes can be offensive... but to call Roger Waters anti semitic is ignorant. I understand that the idea of a jewish star on a pig is not a positive image, but when I see the show, I get the feeling that he's saying all symbols are just that, symbols of dogma, that perpetuate war and the like. Just my opinion, Disturbed did a great job on that Genesis cover.

I mean, I appreciate that David answers many of the points around this issue (e.g. Israeli government not being equivalent to its people or the faith, creative licence, etc.) but his critical error was on the sticking point itself. "Those other symbols were used in the show, but not on the pig. Not on the pig." Yes, they were, Google image search. I saw it myself at the show. The hammer-and-sickle, US $ sign, the cross, and major corporate logos like Shell and Mercedes-Benz, the wall hammers (of course), various statements, etc. While inelegant, this is still textbook artistic questioning of symbols *used for oppression* (say, Palestinian plight David mentions in passing, but I'd think their children blowing up is a more pressing issue than debating symbols on a pig) rather than their *original meaning* and other uses. Just today I saw pictures of Church protesters rubbing their junk on my religious symbol that is a couple millennia old. Do they hate me or my faith? Highly doubt it; they have an issue to pick with the Church that I don't necessary agree with but understand. Sorry, David, the ADL was right to err on intellectual honesty and creative expression rather than crying wolf. Roger's father died fighting the Nazis and the former's sorrowful pride in the latter's principles (i.e. giving up his pacifism to fight true antisemitism in its most violent form) is in many ways his emotional core. Roger tears up in interviews saying he wants to fight for those suffering from violence today. This suggests being driven by love, not hate. That David talks about engaging in violence here also doesn't bode well for his case.
