I honestly have no words for how his playing affects me, it’s almost like a drug flashback, I feel almost stoned. David’s playing affects my brain in a very similar way, I get both Euphoria and a feeling of deep relaxation at the same time, it’s a drug I never want to quit.

@@davidgilmour1046 I am sorry you had a difficult time. Your guitar playing and singing keep inspiring me. They create a calm, warm, strong, confident, upbeat mindset in me whenever I listen to them. Your music feels like encouraging advice from an experienced friend. Live At Pompeii 2016 and Dark Side of The Moon actually inspired me to get a Strat, Pro Bass, keyboard, mics and mixing equipment during the Covid lockdown and start experimenting. This has significantly expanded my joy in music playing on top of the improvised rock and classical sheet music that I have been playing on the piano for many years. My children and entire family have started to experiment on the additional instruments. This has turned the lockdown into a surprisingly positive experience for us. I would like to thank you for this positive inspiration on our lives. Hopefully this feedback can transport some positive inspiration back from us to you.

On 20 June 2019, Gilmour auctioned 120 of his guitars for charity, at Christie's in New York, including his Black Strat, his #0001 and early 1954 Stratocasters, and his 1955 Les Paul. The Black Strat sold for $3,975,000, making it the most expensive guitar ever sold at auction. The auction raised $21,490,750, with the proceeds going to the environmentalist charity ClientEarth.

I did have that chance. 🙂 His Holiness the Dalai Lama was giving a talk at Alexandra Palace and David Gilmour had donated his time to play at the outside stage that was setup for the occasion. I saw him and walked to the stage. He had just finished playing and I noticed that there were quite a few people trying to grab him and trying to talk to him. I thought he needs his space and I didn’t want to bother him. But he was very nice and happy to be there.

No one on this world past or present will ever be as good as David Gilmour, some are brilliant but none have the magic DG has.A total master of the guitar that takes people to another stratosphere, and the inspiration to many people for picking up the guitar.Imho,I don't know any guitarist that makes me feel the way David Gilmour has,I've never gave them anytime, because I've only ever seen them playing a couple of guitar solos, that's nothing compared to this guy.Other guitarists have done nothing compared to him.One of my top DG/PF guitar solos is "On the turning away" and that's just one of many.🏴 Scotland loves you David Gilmour.

Agreed, there is no another musician or a guitarist like David Gilmour. he's sound is so unique and special, he's playing is just not from this world, he's solos are overwhelming and emotional, he can melt your heart with 4 notes, and you don't need to talk about he's phrasing and composing on guitar and on general. Just listen to whole of the division bell, sorrow, on the turning away, whole of meddle (especially to fearless, one of these days and of course echoes), fat old sun, breathe, time, wish you were, shine on (all of the parts), run like hell, cry from the street, no way out of here (yeah I know it's a cover), no way, raise my rent, murder, smile, where we start, on an island, rattle that lock, in any tongue, 5 A.m, and so much more, and of course one of the greatest rock masterpieces that this man stands behind comfortably numb, and you'll understand why he's a musical genius and he's the best ever.

I think David Gilmour, or really any member of Pink Flod, would be the ONLY band in which meeting any of them i'd be "star struck". Such a notion seems ridiculous to me, but for them i'd be in awe. Im a it younger so they were "before my time" but are my favorite "classic rock" band. I was born in 82, so 90's music was really my coming of age and favorite stuff, especialy rock and metal, but still Floyd just touches my soul and breathes new life into it. And after all these years, he is still touring and playing, and shows that same passion and humility he seems to have always had, a comendable quality for someone of his notoriety and stardom. God i wish i could have seen live 8. I'd give an arm to have been in that crowd.
