This man just doesn’t want to take responsibility for the failure of the last 2 films. He seems nice but clearly he has an ego just because you’re an “artist” and you want to tell your story doesn’t give you the right to shit on a story and characters who’s success is based around the love of the fans. It’s also pretty apparent he had no idea where he wanted to go after Halloween 2018. He dropped the ball. He is not the director to be taking on these beloved horror classics at this point… the way he handle Halloween will not have me running to see the Exorcist that’s for sure. I mean if you piss off the fans for delivering multiple piss poor films and shitting on the characters don’t be surprised if the fans aren’t running to see your next film.

@clumpyschlipz7571 H2O was the last good Halloween film. Heretic was bad, but 3 was actually good. When I say "destroyed" I mean destroyed for the next 10 years until they remake it again. DGG needs to go back to making buddy comedies where the actors can just improv the whole film. He has zero understanding of what makes horror films actually frightening.

No he hasnt. I havent seen exorcist believer yet but i know for a fact it wont be bas bad as exorcist 2 the heretic which is one of the worst films ever made , and his halloween trilogy was actually quite good and intresting if you’re a halloween fan and know about all the movies , as his trilogy was sort of a remakesequelreboot requel deconstrcution and expansion and the original first 3 halloween films. Halloween ends is literally probably the best halloween sequel with michael myers we have ever gotten

The Exorcist 1973, 50 years later still has the ablity to shock and leave you completely shattered this sequel looks like a watered down version. When will hollywood executives and these current directors learn you can't recapture the hysteria this movie caused 50 years ago it's impossible. David Gordon Green just doesn't have the balls to go anywere near what the late great William Friedkin went with his movie (he just doesn't seem to know what he is doing at all) and another thing how many more times do we have to see somebody possessed with a ridiculously deep voice it's almost become a parody of a parody it just doesn't shock the way it would have back in 1973. Reagan's possession which is still the benchmark and still terrifying after all these years can not be topped ever. if i were a director i would literally not feature any exorcism scenes at all i would film the priests walking into the room then bang the door shuts. I would film the room from the outside with the door shut so all you could hear were the noises the screaming and the demonic voice i would focus on the effects it's having on the family in the house as they are waiting for it to be all over in an unbroken shot film the reactions the stress and film really intense scenes of the family at breaking point that would be a more effective movie lol................

I'm glad that DGG is so proud of Halloween 3 or Halloween Ends despite the unfair treatment that film got. That was the best one in the trilogy by far, and I didn't love the first two of his trilogy, and a REALLY great Halloween movie. It's the most exciting, emotional, beautiful, surprising film in the franchise outside of the original and Season of the Witch. He should be proud of it, and I feel like with a film of that quality, despite the divisive reaction, he would probably still know that he made a great film.

When a guy laughs at the idea of God and giddily joking about which movie he made is going to send him to hell first and which one is the most blasphemous makes a religious based horror movie, you can rest assured it is going to fail miserably. William Peter Blatty was not shallow, superficial and blindly grabbing at money. This makes a profound difference, one that nether Green of Josh Horowitz could recognize when it stares them in the face. I can't finish this "interview".

I really like him as a film-maker and i think his films are really misrepresented and misuderstood for what they were going for , sure halloween kills was a mess but its a ton of fun and halloween ends is probably the best of that trilogy is a genuinley good film with well thought out themes and ideas and a good story that uses michael myers in a great and unique effective way yet people say that ones the worst? Bro what? Halloween kills is definitely the worst one , even though ive watched it like 30 times and enjoy it loads its the most messy schlocky one, and people seem to forget all his great work before halloween like under tow , all the real girls , george washington , joe etc like hes a genuine unique filmmaker and im glad he’s got a voice to do intresting things and i personally really enjoyed what he did for halloween as he and co understood michael myers more than any other creatives since the original halloween . Halloween ends , just like halloween 3 ( hmmm i wonder why its not like its pretty obvious as to why huh but i guess no ones an actual halloween fan who complains about ends) will become a cult classic in years to come and already has that sort of following.

Genuinely really enjoyed The Exorcist: Believer. It was ambitious, thrilling, and wonderfully crafted. Green’s style clearly does not resonate with everyone. I appreciate that he is thoughtful and instinctive in his process. His work really does resonate with me. And I wonder, for all the hate he gets, who else out there is doing it on his level?
