David Gray could sing Macarena or the whole phone directory for all I care and he would always make me cry and be happy at the same time. I had crushes on a lot of singers when I was younger, but with David, it’s pure and true adoration. I have never listened to a singer that brings in me a lot of mixed emotions like he does. I have even named my son Raphaël David in honor of him. I just can’t believe how he makes me feel when I listen to his music. Long future to him, my life depends on it.

We Buried my Gran yesterday, we move on but have our memories, and a sight a smell a song brings them back and they are with you again if only for a few seconds. Love the song, Thanks Mr Gray

you probably wont read this but you will be forever printed in my mind david as i played your song holding on at my daughters funeral she was just 17 years old and a sweet beautiful soul ........... we are just passing ghosts.

went to see him a couple of months ago with my wife who loves him, she also has a brain tumour...^&*%$$ it made her night/day/month/year seeing such a wonderful musician in the flesh....hopefully many more to come with Mrs Williams x

David, My Grandmother was also born on Jan 31st and would have been 99 today. Thank you for sharing these songs that are so deeply personal. I'm enjoying today and all the memories of my Gram. I hope you are enjoying yours too. I'm sure she is so proud of you and all of your grace & talent.

We should all celebrate the elderly, in this world of not caring enough for each other. The ones that are not consumed by cell phones, making a warm meal and being there for the family. Lots of love in the tunes of this song.

one thing I notice about his older records: he starts out plain, quiet, with maybe a bit of piano...then he starts layering behind the words, a guitar, a harp, a few horns, deeper and deeper, until he often has a huge sound behind him, and it's magic.

As a singer/ songwiter/ musician this man is as good as it gets, his music is always beautiful and poignant as are his lyrics and underlying it all is raw passion derived from deep emotion. Shine is one of the greatest songs ever written, check it out if you don't know it. Truly, I love this man!.

usually with any performer (and especially with a prolific one like this) there are several sides that I just don't like. But with David Gray, I havent found one yet, and that is a LOT of sides, years and years of them. Many of them make me tear up, some of them make me ache, a bit, and now and then one will just grab hold and shake me like a strong wind. David, thank you.

i am moved by the way he sings and inflects. i can tolerate DG's head bobbing too. such a beautiful, heartfelt song. we are fortunate to be in the amidst in the presence of greatness. more of us should discover this vastly underrated songwriter. indie folk pop singers like this are rare.

Beautiful! Songs of expression and memory like these are ways to hold on to the older generations. Especially with the way technology has taken over our lives. The younger generations are so quick to lose sight of the past. It's awesome that David can immortalize her memory in song.
