British Foreign Secretary David Lammy passed Israel’s loyalty test in his first foreign visit as a minister but failed the humanity test in the process.
Rifat Jawaid analyses his utterances on the trip and the choice of words by his ministry’s social media posts.
Note: We’ve used a reasonable portion of videos from the broadcasts of British TV channels Sky News and the BBC and a clip from LBC Radio for the purpose of commentary and critiquing.
The British law on the fair use states, “Fair dealing for criticism, review or quotation is allowed for any type of copyright work. It’s incredible how passive they are in describing Palestinian suffering. They say “settler violence” like it’s a natural phenomenon completely removed from human behavior like a flood or a forest fire. They also frame it as if it’s an isolated phenomenon rather than a concerted systematic effort by Israelis/Israel to dispossess, brutalize, subjugate, and ethnically cleanse the Palestinians. Oh btw in case people haven’t heard David Lammy/the UK has committed to maintain its objection to the ICC’s jurisdiction over the Occupied Palestinian Territories. So there’s another point of proof that Labor will never address the suffering of/crimes against Palestinians except as a virtue signal.
