Van Halen were my high school years starting in 78. Favorite DLR quote " Money can't buy you happiness, but it can buy you a yacht big enough to pull up right along side it" Happy retirement Dave.

Always liked Dave from the first time I saw Van Halen. But he got my respect when I learned that he became an anonymous New York City EMS worker at age 50. He has given us a lot and we have the records and videos. Good health and good luck with your next chapter Dave! Stay frosty 💘

Couldn't agree more, and you too Jeffrey. No one but Dave flew 15 feet through the air from the drum riser, doing a split. The crowd went nuts when he did this, and he even injured himself doing it, but it was all about the show with Dave.

This man is a wordsmith. You combine that with the other talents that he has and the life that he has lived and you can simply listen to him forever for as long as he chooses to talk. And after his singing days are truly over I hope he writes 10 more books because I’ll sit at his feet and listen to whatever he has to write or say. God bless you Dave. And thank you for all you’ve given us.

My second concert was 1988 at Oakland Coliseum. Poison opened for David Lee Roth who was touring for his Skyscraper tour. Me and a couple friends got there early and got a good spot at the front. As soon as the show started we were squashed into oblivion by a sea of people. I have no other words other than that was one of the greatest nights of my life. David Lee Roth is the man. He is rock n roll.

I was there too! 👍 One of the loudest concerts. I have a funny story. My two friends decided to go down on the floor, and I decided to stay in my seat. Halfway through the set they came back. Soaking wet (sweat, beer or something else). One of them said to me... “I can’t see, can’t hear or walk... but it was SO worth it... best time of my life”. 🤣 He lost his hearing, glasses and a shoe. 🤣🤪 I’ll never forget it. You always got your money’s worth seeing DLR.

I was there that night too. That was Dave’s last tour as a legitimate arena-headlining solo act, but it wasn’t for lack entertainment value. The tides were slowly & steadily shifting against him after Eat’em & Smile. It was difficult to watch at times: a decade of declining album sales, loss of popular relevancy, occasional ill-advised attempts to stay “hip”, some truly embarrassing aging-rockstar moments, becoming the butt of jokes, etc. All that said, I think when it’s all said and done, Dave will come out ok. He’s an American original, through and through, feast or famine, and there’s no one like him. Dave and Eddie, IMHO, are one of the best things that ever happened to the universe.

From this talk, I wouldn't be surprised if we hear of his passing within a few years, I certainly hope not, but he pretty well said it when talking about his doctors and handlers are advising him, ... Thank you for the memories, Dave. I was lucky to grow up in a time where music was king, and everyone, including me, played in a garage band. Which has turned into YEARS of enjoyment. Back in 1979, that summer, I got to go with my friend Andy (in his mom's car) to Florida from Connecticut. That's where I listened to VH2, staring at that awesome album cover, "Wow, look how high Dave jumped here!...and look, he broke his foot! Check out Eddie's new guitar!" Meanwhile, back in CT, my family had gone to the beach in Rhode Island one day. They went to some restaurant, and guess who's there? DAVE!...with many women. Those lucky bastards got to meet DLR. I end up getting a gift for my birthday, mailed to Florida, from my sister: a napkin from the restaurant with a note from Dave, wishing me a happy birthday. Almost forgot about that. Now I'm worried for him...there will never be another DLR, frontman of the most incredible band of all time. Love You Man, Ed was my guitar hero, but you were my singer hero.

Mr. Roth, Diamond Dave, I first was thrilled to see you and the guys in '81, Greensboro, N.C. Some ladies yanked you off the stage edge, you disappeared into crowd, only to reappear climbing back onto the stage without your shirt, minus some jewelry, your pants partially pulled open in front, and with a big smile on your face, you jumped right back into singing the song. Craziest concert scene ever. Thank for the incredible catalog of great music. Now my 11yr old son proudly wears his VH tees. The legends rock on, on, and on forever. GOD Bless you.

I know his voice isn’t the same and he’s older but Van Halen wa our childhood heroes and junior high and high school as well. They were the soundtrack of our souls and made. All of us see and feel life differently. The over all impact and everything head to toe this band has done to all That were die hard fans will never ever understand or realize they molded and shaped basically how anyone understood this band on ever level feels and lives. Without Van Halen my childhood and high school would have sucked. The 80’d would have sucked. I’m just band well love ❤️ you Dave and we all will miss you and Eddie on stage performing. It was magic

@@GTLyons my pleasure big hair. I'm.being totally honest whenninsay nobody liked kiss think one guy in the entire school.loler kiss a new York based band. Yeah when you're an artist musician even if industry DMT meet and lnpw Eddie we ste quite sensitive and emotional creatures and if it was not for van halen I'd be dead. Mu's c saved me.van halen saved me. O WS on a self destructive path to my drugs and just lost. My friend let me stay on had s couch when in was at his house he walks in and WS holding van halen 1/ I'm his hand I remember this day because this would change the. Course of my life and habits forever. It was a vinyl record 1977 or 1978 I can't remember bit I do remember he took put a kitchen knife and cut the clear paper like sheet off the image on the front was wicker it was different than usual I asked him.what's that?/who is van halen?/I'm not sure bit my older brothers friend said I have to buy this album right now and is ten to it right now. He said what we all said" the aloems arrived " I said what alien?/he said i don't know let's open it and see what he's talking about. My friend player guitar. At that point keep in my mind the year. Its 1977 or 1978. At this point we both have No dea what his brother meant but our minds were about to be blown. He took out the record pit or on the record player it the needle on it. And we listened to it. We were very quiet just listening and after on fire last song we stayed quiet he spoke first " my brother wasn't kidding this souns like an alien ship or something" I'm like what instruments ate on this? We just played it a million times. That day on I never touched drugs ever again. It wasn't until 1984 that I discovered he played piano and keyboars we are like does this guy ply on the Yankes as well? What can't he do?I was July st a songwriter and singer bit now I had to play piano which is weird. Most people were inspired to play guitar but I was more ofva frontman I loved the guitar but I was note ofva David Lee Roth character. Dressed like dave., I was super add I loved the showmanship he displayed very unique. Eddie's birthday is the day after mine I did not know that until about 1988 which blew my mind so cool. So that's my van halen story. It is still devastating hebdied. Forvall of us especially musicias we have that bond and different mind. Obviouly we all die but Eddie was special and truly loved by all. Very very disappointed it ended like it did but not every fairy tale has a happy ending. There was wT more good than bad. We gotball we could put of him and considering how much they parked extremely lucky he made it hat far. I thought he d be dead 25 years earlier. Dran, smoker chain drinking and smoking plus drus incredible we got extra time and music from him. We are all blessed we got what we gotm he was suffering at the end it was obvious if you ever did drugs or smoked that he was in trouble. I was not surprised. Very saddened bit not shocked. Can't believe it didn't happen earlier. Glad it didn't and they showed up when they did. Best Toby mes the 80's glad we connected and spoke it helps all.of us to cope with his death and maybe some people are shy and think they its weird to care souch about people we never met. But it's not weird. This band is a one inna trillion shot. We are all saddened by his death. If you didn't cry I would think there is something wrong with you. This band touched us all in some way. Glad my post touched you in some way and keep talking to people about what ever you'd be surprised how many people who feel the same way you do. OK take care and hope this post helps I'm some way. DLR will live forever in the music he made. The artistry of dlr is the soundtrack of the 70’s 80’s and of my life. I drew VH on every notebook, folder or paper I could to express my love of their music. Branded on my heart always is VH logo. There will never be another David Lee Roth.

I hope that isn't true but I fear it is. I am 52 and have lost a few classmates from high school already. DLR was always one of my favorite front guys. He is a true entertainer- he is in a class all by himself.

1973-1976 were EPIC times! So many memories of my young life. Growing years. Experiencing life as a pre-teen. In the late 70's and into the early 80's I got so many people into Van Halen who were much younger then I. I used to open the windows of my house and blast Van Halen after school. That's the reason one friend became an Eddie fan and started playing guitar and formed a band that became popular in Marin, Sonoma, San Fran. and other surrounding Counties in CA. Roth's voice in those early albums, holy Walrus juice! I'm on FIYAAAAAAAHHHH! Thank you Dave.

Skiing listening to- This Must Be Just Like Living In Paradise, And I Don't Want to Go Home. Made My Ski- Trip even Better. Thanks for the Great Music and Memories. GOD BLESS.

Thank you Dave. Class of 1984 grad here. Walked to Sears to buy Van Halen 1, with lawn mowing money, after hearing “You Really Got Me” in the movie, “Over The Edge”, starring Matt Dillon, in 1979.

Dave is like a brother to me, listening to Van Halen since we sent $3.50 for a cassette to a address on the last page of a rock magazine named "Circus" from a list of upcoming bands we could choose from, so I out of our group chose a cool named band "Van Halen" and when we received the music from that point till now nearly 48-years "Van Halen" was number one, attended every concert from 1977 to 1989. Dave we love you brother, very best of the best to you forever!

..watching Coldplay talking about their upcoming tour, on TV. There ain't no comparison with those talentless hacks, when compared with the mighty VH and others from an era where we knew what rocked and what didn't. Miss those times. Take care Dave, you've changed more lives than you can imagine.

His telling of the "Saturday Night Supper Club" warmed my heart. I have an image in my mind like a movie of 1973 California chllin' at a Denny's and this crazy long haired posse barging in on a Saturday night. DLR is a great story-teller. He sounded vulnerable at times. I hope he's okay. VH was a huge part of my youth and high school years.
