David Lee Roth performs "Tell The Truth" on David Letterman 1991/1992. Interview also included. I don't think David Letterman is a big fan of David Lee Roth...

Diamond Dave really shines on this one vocally, maybe one of his best live performances
@kellruss9 жыл бұрын
Keith - Agreed. If you like this and don't know the rest of his later solo albums (although nearly everything he's done with and without VH has been damned good), check out "Sensible Shoes." Another great vocal. "I got a good job, I'm makin' lotsa money, I look good and I'm funny, so why'm I lonesome honey? The gypsy said the problem with you... you need some sensible shoes."

Keith Whalen I agree 100%

You guys see the Kimmel show last night? My friend had priority seating and they used a few of his pics of the band's arrival on the VH News Desk site. Acoustics are not great outdoors... but regardless, I think Dave is slipping vocally. He's had many peaks and some valleys. But the vocals just aren't there live - and he doesn't seem to have the same command of the stage that he once had. But I'll still go see them in August when they come to NJ...
@Epitaphforyesterday9 жыл бұрын
Russ oh i agree and that's why i still haven't bought the last VH (not the live one). I love DLR, the VH brothers are to blame and had no scope of the time line they were dealing with with dave. this is right in the years where dave re-joining wouldn't have been neutered. that said, if i could be half as good and look 1/8th as good as dave did on kimmel.. i'll be more than fine. he's got a little of iggy pop's genes. the guy is 60. dlr is king (boulder anyone?).
@kellruss9 жыл бұрын
Epitaphforyesterday - He does seem to have the Iggy genes! Lucky bastard - ha. Re the latest studio release (A Different Kind of Truth), don't miss out... it's a stellar album and Dave sounds great on it (perhaps a little studio magic is the "different truth?"). Either way... good stuff. In certain circles (and because many tunes are leftovers and/or reworks of early unreleased material), we've agreed that it could be considered their debut Part II.

@kellruss9 жыл бұрын
crisscat2006 Yeah, wouldn't that be nice. One of my best lifelong friends - Dan - also the guitarist in my band for many years growing up, has ALS too. It's a horrible disease that needs a treatment or cure sooner than later. Thankfully, as with Jason who has lived with ALS for more than 25 years, Dan has been living with it for about 7. Both of them exceeding typical life expectancy (5 years +/-). I hope that's a good indicator of where treatment is taking them.

Tragic about Jason for sure....but Joe Holmes did a phenomenal job on that tour and has always been so respectful of Jasons work. If you don't know Joe's band Farmikos....I highly recommend checking it out. He is an amazing player. Cheers!

I do, and I love his stuff, and seen him live. Here, he's trying to sing it straight, and he obviously can. Yet other times, he just doesn't bother, and thinks it's ok not to.
@rfdiego7772 жыл бұрын
I think the problem is most of the time he tries to sing out of his range and he has not the technic for that so he sounds not good, but in a more comfortable range he has a great voice
