David Muir: My First Big Break

David Muir has known since middle school that he was going to be a TV news anchor. What he didn't know is that four weeks into being named the main anchor of a network evening newscast, his show would be No. 1.
While Muir's biggest break came this summer, when he was named anchor of ABC's "World News Tonight," his first big break came when he was just 12 years old, growing up in Syracuse, NY when he wrote a letter to the local TV news anchorman.

David was friends with my daughter at Ithaca College. They did an internship at The Fund for American Studies In DC during their summer break. At the end of the internship there was a graduation at which David was chosen to speak as a graduate of the program.. ( Britt Hume was the guest speaker). What I will never forget is how David ended his speech. He said “I hope someday I will say, this is David Muir, ABC News, Good Night!” His dream did come true. He is so deserving...keep up the great work David.

I've been a beginner journalist two or three times in my childhood and as a youth. I have never aspired to be anything more than that in that department. If we were all journalist there'd be nobody on the other end watching the journalist and anchors. I always enjoy watching David Muir on ABC News. Many times I even shed tears some of joy and some of Sorrow from the stories that are being portrayed through this anchor. Thanks David. 🤗 HUGz

Growing up in Central New York we 'd watch David as a "rookie" on TV5/Syracuse. People knew he was going far and he has made us proud!

I can remember when David worked at channel 5 in Boston. He was fantastic. I think WCVB in Boston is a training ground for those destined to go on to bigger thing. Chuck Scarborough and Keith Olberman were two others that did it.

My dad thinks you are great except for your daily smear of President Trump. It seems to me that Trump is a good man that has done a lot of good things that you don't want to talk about. Why is that? Do you write all the bad stuff or does someone else write it and make you read it?
