Pretty amazing that this performance is 20 yrs after his Oh Holy Night performance. I would say David doesn’t take voice for granted and is a forever student of the craft. Definitely a vocal athlete who puts in the hard work.

I can't explain how happy I am to see this 'reaction' David Phelps is one of my fav singers...He mostly sings Gospel songs...Although he has recently released some contemporary songs like this one. His Gospel ones will take you to church my friend. recommend 'No More Nights. We shall behold him. Since David is 52 I really hope he gets the recognition that voice deserves. The songs he usually have such awesome and powerful messages and are met with an equally awesome and powerful voice. I hope he’s recognized by the top singers today as he is by us. One of the best tenors/singers of all time. He should guest perform on big shows. Haha.

You’re right he has a voice from God! He’s been my favorite male voice for nearly 30 years. He’s fabulous live in concert. I hope you’ll do more reactions of him.

The Broadway that you say you detect is actually Opera, not Broadway. David is a Baylor University graduate (Texas) and his professors tried to persuade him to go into Opera but he felt the calling of His Lord Jesus and took the gospel route instead. He met his lovely wife Lori at University. I saw him live in concert last year just a couple of days after his birthday. A member of the audience shouted a Happy Birthday to him. He shared that he and his wife share the same birthday. He then said that he was actually born 2 hours before Lori was so that makes him the boss of the family. He then gave an impish grin, looked around, lowered his voice and said, "Lori didn't hear me say that, did she?"

He’s classically trained and can sing all styles. He sings opera equally as well as Broadway, pop or jazz. He picks a song and then chooses how he wants to sing it. He actually keeps getting better. Truly gifted.

David graduated from Baylor University where he majored in Opera. His prof wanted him to go into opera, but her preferred to stay with gospel music. He and Whitney became friends ... or so I've read ... and they were planning on recording something together.

Hey brother, he writes his own arrangements to some of these cover songs that's why the piano was behind his voice on the part you mentioned. And he writes many original songs. Is always I appreciate you brother

David has such an amazing voice! I'm an eighties child, grew up listening to Whitney absolutely wow us with her power, her control, just her pure vocals! There was no one like her!! I refuse to put anyone on her level but I also was exposed to David's talents as a teen and even though they have different styles I'm blown away with how pure his voice and control is as well!! Whitney seemed untouchable to me but as time has gone on I've grown to appreciate the few that can sing with her and especially those that honor her with covers that are legit. David is legit folks!!

I'm glad you're feeling better. I remember a time when I was at work and had a 104.3F temp. My boss wouldn't come in early to relieve me so I had to stay for a few more hours while my tonsils got bigger and bigger. I didn't end up needing a hospital stay but it was pretty darn miserable.
