As a cellist myself I gladly admit that this guy cuts shit up BIG TIME. Plus, it's not simply a technical display, even if a display piece, but instead he really reaches into the emotional expression that the piece allows. Nicely done.

You can tell he spent a very long time this piece by the way he plays and by the way he adds some parts that are not in music like it’s part of the piece. Bravo, an amazing performance! 🤩

It is a really unique instrument and very pretty I agree!! It was actually owned by the great cellist and composer Luigi Boccherini. It was made by Antonio Stradivari in the mid 1690's. It has since been cut down and made smaller for some reason. It was lost to time at some point and then rediscovered in the mid-late 1900s in London, UK. Soltani is the first cellist to really put it to use since its rediscovery which is really cool. It is quite lucky that we get to hear such an amazing instrument with such a unique history!!

Wonderful! Very well played. Parts of this rhapsody remind me of the soulful sounds of the Romanian composer Porumbescu's Balada. I wonder if they knew each other in their coinciding lifetimes.

So beautiful.kheyli ziba. I guess sometime classical iranian musique and hungarian are close. I remember a lecture about Persian roots of Hungarian musique when i was in the university of Pecs🌘🎼

"Hungarian" here actually most likely refers to gypsy music, a common notion 19th century Europeans had (same for the Hungarian Dances Brahms wrote)

Justin Louie that’s the beautiful things about cadenzas, there are no rules. The cadenza in the original piece is basically just a suggestion. Traditionally, cadenzas were actually made up on the spot if I remember correctly. So there’s nothing wrong with playing it differently.

What beautiful tones & sounds! A breathtaking job! The melodies are partially the same from LISZT'S Hungarian RHAPSODIES! It's from his piece! So...please don't think the composer is David Popper!!! It's the LISZT'S creation! Anyways, bravo ! On the performance!
