Interesting how nobody seems to have tried to really beat this. 12 years.

Someone threw a aerobic disc 1333 feet off a hill though

I thought the intended point of a boomerang was to come back to your throw location. Exception being a hunting boomerang. Bought one of Vic's "WOTH" and took it to the beach. ...Was beautiful! It took two throws before I was getting 9 seconds of fly time with the coastal breeze. Thanks Vic

No the intended point was lift, the normal boomerang is an evolution of the throwing sticks. Returning versions were also used for hunting as well by aboriginals, mainly flushing birds out.

The previous records before this were significantly less impressive when you realize the discs were thrown off the elevated hang gliding cliffs at Fort Funston whereas this was done on flat ground.

Why?
@stygiansong2 жыл бұрын
@@chewy99. who knows if they actually walked in a straight line to measure the distance. any slight curve or deviation could throw the measure off. also, uneveness in the surface could cause more or less surface contact with the wheel, also throwing off the meaure.

@@stygiansong It doesn't really matter since the previous records before this were significantly less impressive when you realize the discs were thrown off the elevated hang gliding cliffs at Fort Funston whereas this was done on flat ground.

what if they got an actual in shape person to throw it?
@kishascape Жыл бұрын
No difference since he's strong enough and it's more about technique.
@scottrackley445711 ай бұрын
@@kishascape I own 6 and throw them for fun or with the nephews, technique plays a big part. There are some you have to be strong enough to throw though. I have one that goes around a pole 60 yards away, takes a decent rip to do it.

This is awesome but original boomerangs were made for catching birds so one person would scare the flock away then another fulla would throw the boomerang and the birds think it's a predator bird I guess and change direction and hopefully that direction was were they had there net to catch dinner for a whole tribe the hunting boomerangs were just made to fly straight and they will take yah face off I've use one and hit a kangaroo and it cave its face in dead as soon as it hit and people hit them with cars going 100kms and they can get back up and run at basically full speed(I'm wiradjuri could been done different to other tribes but just a little fact haha)

Poor kangaroo. I know that in some parts of Australia they are extraordinarily common and sort of like pests, kind of like raccoons in America. But they're still glorious creatures to behold. I loved watching them graze and hop around outside Canberra when I was there. We were were at a shooting range and they couldn't be bothered by the noise. Surely you didn't intentionally harm the kangaroo. Hopefully Australia will reopen for international visitors soon enough. I can't wait to return.
