But if it walks like a duck and sounds like a duck it's a duck. Simply asking questions is not the right argument for this extremely intricate situation. Simply questioning is a tool right wing extremists have been using for decades to foster dissent. Do you know Tucker Carlson, he just cost Fox News US$750 Million by just asking questions? You really do need to refine your arguments if you want to be taken seriously.

Racist, spawn of Hitler, & so many more & we don't get a word in about the subject we are meant to be talking about. It's their way of shutting down the conversion, as they know if this does come to a referendum they're screwed. We should want to be one people working together to get better services for everyone & get this country's instruction back online starting with Marsden Point oil refinery & bitumen plant as we can't fix our road properly without her. Plus, the ferries would always have clean fuel & we would have cheaper fuel as well. They get us breaking up into these small groups, they have won people as our power is when we speak as one voice.

You're mistaken. This situation isn't akin to apartheid or the oppression of black people. Instead, it seems to reflect a colonialist agenda, where victims are portrayed as offenders. This pattern is observed globally. The concern is that ACT is leveraging this for political gain, emphasizing inequality that already exists. Māori continue to face challenges, and when they assert themselves, there's pushback. The Treaty of Waitangi, which lacks an expiration date, is often overlooked. Meanwhile, ACT and National appear to favor corporations and landlords, who frequently evade significant tax contributions. Trickle-down economics, in practice, often falls short. Granting more power and tax breaks to corporations and landlords doesn't necessarily translate to better societal prices. If the Treaty of Waitangi is seen through a colonial lens, this could lead to further marginalization of Māori, reinforcing negative stereotypes. Concerns about land confiscation and water rights are valid, given historical precedents. It's important to consider the potential consequences of concentrating power in one entity, which could lead to unchecked oppression and unequal rulings against minority groups

With regards to Jack hammering David on the 'one vote for one person' criteria and putting forward that a minority indigenous race of people should get more than one vote per person, there would appear to be an assumption that those in that minority would only vote for a candidate of their own race or a party with their race in their name. The fact is they may not. They may stick with the party whose policies they like and use their two votes to increase that parties total vote.

Jack Tame needs to read the Treaty. Article 3 mentions nothing of "equity" - which he seems to continually emphasise. It does, however, more appropriately indicate "equality" - equality of opportunity which Maori have. After all they've been leaders of political parties, Governor's General, Heads of several Govt Depts and also Corporations, what more do they want? Tame needs to realise that apartheid is a recipe for disaster and if the Treaty is too hard for him to read and understand, may I suggest he reads Dr Seuss - The Sneetches.

And let's not forget, before colonisation they owned nothing, for it was regularly taken by the next tribal warmonger that happened their way - and that was far from the worst of it. And while on the subject, they didn't even have a name for New Zealand, that was how wide their 'world view' was. As evidenced by the Treaty in 1840, the name 'Aotearoa' for the country simply didn't exist. Yet just another revisionist myth.

The future of this (or any other) country and the solution to world problems will not and cannot be resolved by a continually fragmented society. Whatever 'new' version or definition of 'democracy' NZ has or may design has to be based on that premise. "Inclusivity for various groups and actors' seems to be a license (in many sectors) for 'excluding' others, and even those who form a majority demographic in this country. This simply cannot work and is headed in ever more complex directions, with stronger push-back no doubt....

Think the whole treaty, sovereignty thing has just become crap. Firstly there is no colonising country that would have ever agree to equity of a minority. They never saw them as equals and Queen Victoria would never have agreed to it so it's impossible that was written in the treaty. They said they'd be treated the same as the settlers. My Irish ancestors had their land stolen and a lot were starved to death and had to pay the crown to farm their own land. The problem is classism! It always has been. That's still the issue in nz now. You have Maori elite that own an awful lot and an Maori economy that's worth over 70 billion dollars yet "their" people still live in poverty. I'm from working class, factories and the like and we don't get any help from bloody anywhere but all we want is to have the same opportunity to equality. We're all just human regardless of race or ancestry. The past is the past, lifes not been fair so get over it and fight for a equal future for all humans!

Article 3 of the Treaty ACTUALLY says : "In return for the cessation of their sovereignty to the Queen, the people of New Zealand shall be protected by the Queen of England and the rights and privileges of British subjects will be granted to them." Virtually EVERYTHING Jack says is a twisting of the truth. He ought to be completely ashamed of himself for coming on TV demonstrating such a poor standard of journalism. What article three is ACTUALLY saying is that everyone in NZ will be treated equally. What I see is ACTUALLY Maori are getting favours and backhanders over the rest of us right left and centre! i.e. the 83% non-Maori population are getting screwed over! Sheesh.

One thing to keep in mind is that the immigrants that are allowed to live here usually have to meet certain criteria to do so, one of which is to earn over a certain threshold of money and/or have skills that are in demand. Or be a refugee, but those are of a limited number, and then are family, etc, but the bulk of permanent immigrants are skilled people. So basically the immigrants that live here are to cream of the crop, whereas Maori in New Zealand include all levels of ability and expertise, so that does skew things a bit. We don't get many cleaners, and call centre staff from Third World countries getting residency, for example, mostly the skilled people that are in demand such as nurses, doctors, engineers, ag/hort workers, now hospitality workers, etc
