David Spade is an actor, comedian, and writer known for his sharp wit and sarcastic humor. He first gained fame as a cast member on SNL from 1990 to 1996, where he developed a signature style of delivering cutting one-liners. He has also appeared in numerous television shows and films, including "Just Shoot Me", “The Emperors New Groove”. “8 Simple Rules” and "Joe Dirt."
Chris Farley was a larger-than-life comedian known for his physical comedy and boisterous personality. He also rose to prominence as a cast member on SNL in the early 1990s, where he became known for his over-the-top characters and impressions. After leaving the cast of SNL, Farley went on to appear in several films including “Airheads”, “Almost Heroes”, and “Beverly Hills Ninja”.
Spade and Farley got to be very close during their time on SNL and went on to collaborate on several films together, including "Tommy Boy" and "Black Sheep." They had a unique on-screen chemistry that was built on their contrasting personalities, with Spade often playing the straight man to Farley's larger-than-life antics. Their friendship offscreen was also well known, and they were often seen joking around and causing mischief together. Tragically, Farley passed away of a drug overdose in 1997 at the age of 33, which was a devastating loss for Spade and the entire comedy community.
While Spade and Farley had a great deal of respect for each other and maintained a decades-long friendship, they didn’t always see eye to eye. In fact, throughout their friendship, they often ended up feuding with each other, especially during their time working together in their various film collaborations.
After Farley died, Spade decided to not attend his funeral. This move came as a shock to fans of both comedians. Join Facts Verse as we reveal why David Spade seemingly snubbed his old SNL pal while also discussing some of the two stars' most heated disagreements.

David was from the valley in Arizona and I remember a local DJ said he talked to Daves mom to see how he was doing right after the news of Chris' death and he said, she told him, He's very broken up and is just staying in his room trying to deal with this, and knowing him probably will stay in his room for some time, this was a huge loss for him. I just remember thinking how sad it must be for him to be so upset that he couldn't come out of his room..

See, you can do the right thing. This is a sad story but it's a good one and you need to keep this sort of thing in mind. Obviously and thankfully this is neither salacious nor prurient in nature. Stay the course and I think you'll have a bigger following than ever. Always remember that it is important to Enlighten people not to bring them down to the base level. Our baser instincts are not good and they should not be catered to under any circumstances. They need to be buried. We should always strive for the high ideal not for the low bass sexual material which debases all of us when it's outside of a proper context of a decent and loving marriage. Stay away from all that stuff. More like this and some of the other ones that I've given you praise for and I think you owe do well in terms of getting more people to ring that Bell.

He was a sad and lonely man. Put yourself in his shoes and if you really think about it, it’s easy to see how he went the way he did. Most of his male friends had no issues getting women and being in relationships. Chris didn’t have that option; mostly because of his physical appearance. As time went on, Chris earned a reputation as a mean drunk. With that sort of reputation, even women who could look past his physical appearance couldn’t ignore that part of him. He was 33 and probably never experienced being romantically loved by someone. I suspect paying for love by the hour probably did more harm to his mental health than good. It’s tough to say how his life might have gone if he had a special woman in his life. Was his loneliness the reason for his substance abuse? Would he have set all that stuff aside and straightened out if a woman truly loved him and told him to quit so that he could be a responsible husband and a father? Who knows? Why speaks volumes is that none of those closest to him were surprised by his demise. Saddened, yes. Shocked, no. Another sad story of a person gone way too soon.

Spade is absolutely no "victim" of Farley. David's story depicts Chris as a rampaging lunatic who went into fits of jealous rage over Rob Lowe. I find that very hard to believe. Rather, Spade's snarky little attitude is likely catalyst that sent Chris to the edge after numerous remarks.. David is by no means this kind caring guy he says he is. He is a little snarky smart mouth who skipped out on Farley's funeral because he is selfish. Farley would have wanted him there. I don't know why. But, that is Chris. Being, a fan of Chris, I have seen numerous documentary style programs where people describe what Chris was like. Few describe Chris the way that Spade does. The only ones who do seem to be very sympathetic to Spade are celebrity friends of Spade. My bet is David is simply trying to protect his image by not looking like a complete jerk for bailing on Chris. I don't buy it. It was just too emotional for Spade that he couldn't handle it. Please. That sounds like such a lie.. The guy just absolutely trashed Eddie Murphy. Could about imagine what he was saying about Farley too. Yeah. Don't buy "David's Version" at all.

I'd say if anything he skipped out on the funeral because he couldn't bear to he his best friend laying dead in a casket. This is coming from someone who had to see their best friend dead in a casket.

You go to the funeral. You don't make the funeral of your friend about you, and worry about how you will look if you get emotional. You don't have to make a speech, but you show up. Even if you just appear and quickly leave, you have to go. If everyone did what Spade did, no one would have showed up.

It’s a personal choice. No one dictates how others should grieve.
