Amazing relationships have love. Unfortunately, people now interpret that as always being sexual love, and that’s a shame. When I read about all the loneliness in society, the suicides, etc., I just would hope we all had more platonic soul mate relationships as a goal. I work with older adults who are often widowed. I find the happier are those who have built a circle of amazing friends. Just my opinion. Best regards.

When Michael Sheen said that dialects could be different between streets, it reminded me of a scene from the US series, _Homicide: Life on the Street._ The detectives are interviewing a suspect and, for some reason I can no longer remember, the conversation gets onto the topic of where in Baltimore one of the detectives was from. The suspect said that just from how someone says "Baltimore", he could tell within a 20 block radius where that person grew up within the city.

This was so much fun! I have a recording of my grandmother from 1980, the year she died at age 79. She was raised in the US state of Iowa. I grew up in New Mexico, and she was a daily presence in my life until she died. Recently I listened to that recording, after nearly 40 years, and the mid-western accent often called the "Rusty Saw" was so obvious! It was an eye opener from my youth when it was just grandma's voice.

ANOTHER BBC "Class Act" in "Good Omens", lost to a subscription service? THIS HAS TO STOP! This EXCELLENT comedic drama was a breath of fresh air and had me riveted to the TV when it was broadcast, WITHOUT ADVERTS, on the BBC! When such programmes are created, developed and become part of the British TV landscape, there should be no such "yard sale" of these "intellectual properties"! The BBC has become a nursery for great programming that is birthed, raised and then SOLD OFF to the highest bidder, and then, .....to add insult to injury, ...the BBC then PROMOTES THE COMMERCIAL ENTERPRISES that paid for EXCLUSIVE RIGHTS to that prized possession! HOW are people who struggle to pay the BBC licence fee, supposed to keep up with this series? Amazon Prime is a subscription, as is Netflix, SKY, Disney+, and Paramount! .....ADD THEM UP! .....PER MONTH! £8.99 - Amazon Prime £10.99 - Netflix (Standard) £26.99 - Sky TV (inc Netflix) (Sky Movies +£11.99) £7.99 - Disney+ £6.99 - Paramount+ As of 14/07/2023, that adds up to £34.96 PER MONTH, without Sky TV, and Movies, OR £62.95 PER MONTH, with Sky TV and Movies! (that does NOT include any of Sky's PREMIUM Sports coverage! which will cost EXTRA!) This is ON TOP OF THE £159 per year UK TV License Fee! (because all services you subscribe to include access to BBC services!) That's an ANNUAL COST of £578.52 or £914.40 to access the TV and films PROMOTED ON THE BBC! - I'll let that little gem sink in for a while! Now ask yourselves this question! HOW are the poorest of us, ...single parents, pensioners, long term sick and disabled, the mentally ill, and the terminally unemployed, supposed to "JOIN IN" with these cultural events? How do you explain the INEVITABLE isolation the exclusion from these events causes? ....the ELITISM that has been created? (here's a really BIG CLUE! ...YOU CAN'T!) When the UK government started selling off the UK "airwaves" to satellite services, did they not realise the "bidding wars" that would come, that would DECIMATE the ability of our public broadcasting networks to compete? Virtually ALL of the major sports events are now EXCLUSIVELY on Sky Sports TV, and often hidden behind a "paywall"! A VERY LUCRATIVE business model, no doubt, but at what cost? The traditional Saturday afternoon football is now OUT OF REACH of the working class folks that used to sit around the TV because they could not afford the escalating turnstile ticket fees and "incidentals" inside the grounds! CHILDREN'S TV have all been separated from the main channels on TV and are now 24hr a day "babysitting channels" mainly lost to "streaming services" with the obligatory "paywalls"! Is it any surprise that the BBC is losing it's audiences to "streaming services" when it SELLS OFF it's prime products, and fails to hold onto the products that made it such a RESPECTED media Corporation? ...UK Premium sports events, and THE main promoter of Formula One and other sports! What ever happened to "Ski Sunday" on BBC2? Horse racing in the afternoons, boxing, wrestling, eventing, triathlons, ....the list goes on! The BBC is probably the greatest innovator in DRAMA, and has a long and illustrious history of providing the BEST production values in broadcasting! Their News service, WAS the most respected in the world, but lately, it has been exploited by programmers who want TABLOID MENTALITY and ENTERTAINMENT VALUES, where EDUCATION and INFORMATIVE PRESENTATIONS were required, ....to protect DEMOCRACY! Now, many question the integrity of the BBC for these very reasons! Many also question/RESENT the TV License Fee, for the very same issues listed above, but pay it because there is NOTHING ELSE! (they can afford!) Next to the NHS, I used to think the BBC was the most PROFOUNDLY IMPORTANT gift to the British people AND THE WORLD! ....Now? ....
