Setting Sun featuring Delane Barrus is now available to be streamed everywhere. Delane, my good friend and bandmate from years ago, transformed my instrumental composition "Setting Sun" into a stunningly beautiful tribute to our good friend Pat Campbell. Delane's voice and lyrics are remarkable. He is truly a poet. Here are the lyrics for you to check out while you listen:
An Autumn sun is setting soon
it’s leaving me - to light up the moon,
to light up the moon
The shadows grow, the afterglow
it sets afire, the world that we know,
the world that we know.
But I’m climbing this hill as the lower
lights fade.
The silence defies all the noise that you
made . . . but I hear you. I still hear you.
This race to the top, will it ever be won
chasing the tail of the shimmering sun
to be near you, to be near you
No architect. No mastermind. And
don’t forget, that it’s your turn to shine.
A moment to shine.
So I’m climbing this hill on the trail you
blazed.
The silence defies all the noise that you
made . . . but I hear you. I still hear you.
This climb to the top, was it ever
enough.
Checked all of the right boxes, with all
the right stuff to be near you.
Am I near you? Am I near?
But I’m climbing this hill as the lower
lights fade.
The silence defies all the noise that you
made . . . but I hear you. I still hear you.
An Autumn sun is setting soon
it’s leaving me - to light up the moon,
to light up the moon.
But I’m climbing this hill as the lower
lights fade.
The silence defies all the noise that you
made . . . but I hear you.
