How do you add and use Cisco images in EVE-NG topologies? This video shows you how to download Cisco IOS images from Cisco VIRL and then use them in your EVE-NG networks.
This EVE-NG tutorial shows you step by step how to download Cisco IOS images, how to upload them to the EVE-NG server and then how to use them in EVE-NG topologies. This video is part of a series of videos that give you a full EVE-NG installation guide. Use this EVE-NG tutorial to add Cisco images to EVE-NG and get an EVE-NG lab set up. In a a previous video, I showed you how to download and install VMware Workstation Player and how to add EVE-NG to VMware, how to create a topology.

As usual, superb video. I followed another one yesterday to do same thing you explained here. It was more a "type this" and "type that". They didn't explained where those commands come from. Your videos are always easy to follow as you don't skip any steps and show it all. Anyone who haven't checked the Official GNS3 Certified Associate course, give it a look, it worth it. 68 hours on all kind of technical subjects. Almost all the David Bombal videos in one place for a really good price. Thanks again David. Keep it up.

I think some people can be intimated by the Linux command line setups but you literally documented every single step to make it as user friendly as possible. Another great video, David! Would be cool if you could do something as clear as this for Arista images! Whilst l love my VIRL images, I understand some people can't justify the price for a license. For those people I think Arista is a great alternative to get started with! I think people will be surprised how almost identical the commands are to Cisco’s and that they can easily practice their routing and switching with Arista on EVE-NG or GNS3 with no cost barrier :)

Thank you, David, a pretty good amount of manual configuration for EVE-NG, but as you mention, this is for the community edition, so I am kind of used to it when it comes to free or open-source software. Later on, it improves. Looking forward to seeing a bit more of the good or advantages over GNS3 other than it is built on top of Linux. Until next time.

@@davidbombal EVE-NG choose to 'force' cli usage because it is a good path to learn basics linux commands and to give user ability to freely add 'undocumented' images later... Using custom templates..... As said, it seems very hard when starting using eve but after a bunch of image upload, this process become clear... The video is showing very clearly the reference table with naming convention to create directories , use the right image name..... Everything is difficult before becoming simple..... ;-)

Thank you for your easy to understand educational videos.I just wanted to know why should someone use EVE over GNS3 as the latter is easier to use. I totally agree with you. I don't know why people want to switch from gns3 to eve-ng just because there is something available and has been on trend, people would go for that blindly no matter how difficult it is to set-up. I tried both of them.. gns3 is too much easier to set-up. And what I've come to know is that images in eve-ng cannot be configured as you want, like if you have windows 7 host imported in eve-ng, it is automatically get assigned 4gb of ram & if you make any changes to that, you'll have an issue for sure!! Whereas in gns3 even with 1gb of ram, you could run your windows 7 host and you will have extra remaining ram to add other nodes to your topology.
