Greetings from FINLAND brother, we respect guys like you , real warriors .. come visit in here some day , you would like our nature, its so fresh and pure... Couple days ago we had auroras all over our country, it was pretty amazing, vikings used to think that aurora is like bridge to the valhalla 🇫🇮

Looks like you're really enjoying Ham radio. I received my ticket in 1981, worked it for about 18 months, then due to work I didn't have time. About 3-4 years ago I bought all new equipment, hooked up, and maybe within the 3-4 years I have an hour on HF, and 1 hour a month on VHF. VHF is picking up due to I run the Net for the USCG Aux as SO CM. Enjoy, most the guys/gals are good people.

I think it’s really great you’re talking about ham radio and experiencing what me and my family has experience for years my ham radio has always been a part of my go to bag my rucksack and everything even my wife’s and it works great especially in a broadcast you did here not long ago whenever I was stuck in Virginia about emergency communications that has helped out so much and helped so many people and very few people actually realize it

when you go to the iron furnace this summer, make it a video where you find it on a map, plot your course and follow your bearing with your Suunto mc2 and see how close you can come to accuracy. just a thought I think it would be a good instructional video.

Nothing wrong with running POTA. If you enjoy it, do it! I personally love APRS. I took a trip from Canton to Columbus and was running APRS on my HH. I saw a operator that had his message set as his pick up truck. I sent him a message, which he replied. I was so happy

Dave, great video. I'm very familiar with the Furnace and where to find it. Easy to find and get to once you know the area of the park. It's accessible east off of Route 50, down a dirt road about 3 miles on your right. Cross a old bridge and head up the hill.. They have a sign for the wildlife area.

The difficult thing with wsjtx is if you don't have a cell signal and your time is off on your computer/Raspberry PI. My fix was to tune into 10 MHZ for the clock and set my clock. It is tricky but you have to be within a miniscule time frame. I guess I should have watched the entire video as you have the same issue as I did. The POTA issue with the park number is you have a special message block on the 2 tab on messages. I don't really do FT8 for POTA but you have me interested now. Thanks for the video!!!
@alaskankare
@alaskankare 2 жыл бұрын
So "spotting" yourself for POTA, does that have to do with signing in through the radio, or pinging on GPS? I'm in alaska and a lot of parks aren't in cell range. Can you just log in from home before you go out, stating what park you'll be in? Nice to see more HAM stuff.

Great video David. It looks like a P2P would be essentially done blind so to speak. RaDAR runs are lots of fun. My XYL and I did a 5 park RaDAR for our 21st wedding anniversary. We ended up with 1 park toward a Late Shift, 3 parks activated, and a Cheetah. 73 de NM9X

I've seen many hours of your programming, Dave. Sorry, but I cannot see how this is useful. Is it a puzzle? A time killer? A challenge? What can I learn by this? Do you use it to call in the saints after the Big One? Crash course Josh has too many videos to find anything on. I'm sure he takes your calls, though. Those POTAble people creep out my dog. But seriously, I gather a much greater perspective by watching your programming. Tremendously satisfying.

Some ferrite torrids will help or eliminate the EMI from your laptop. I use a Mix 31 torrid for my IC-705 and both Mix 31 and a 43 on my IC-7300. The USB cable is a lot longer for the 7300 compared to the one I use with the 705. Icom recommends a 3ft USB cable or less to be used to reduce the EMI. Too much EMI can cause some problems with the radio and/laptop. Just a few turns around a ferrite torrid will make a difference. Hope to catch you on the air. 73, W4ISB. Mike in Tennessee.
