Dude I looked up sea shanties to mess with someone but ended up on "roll the old chariot" it is hands down one of the greatest bit of music I've ever heard.

Sea shanty’s are having a moment on tik tok. You should show them how it’s done!

Not too long ago, I saw an old friend laid to rest to this song. I thought it beautiful at the time, and as the months went on, I felt it fitting to remember him by going down the sea shanty rabbit hole. And then - I found this. This song. This version. This voice. Mr. Coffin, your voice is nothing short of spectacular. Should I, in fact, one day find myself at the Pearly Gates - hopefully sometime long from now - if God’s voice doesn’t sound like yours, I suppose I’ll be a bit disappointed.

RIP to all our brothers we have lost to the sea. My auld trawler fell to sea and lost all her crew. Five of my brothers gone but not forgotten. And what a voice this man has..

I hope I can sing this with everyone some day, in my beloved home of Massachusetts.

Omg dude, the chills I get when listening to you sing. You’re a prime example of how I think we’ve lost something substantial through our gradual loss of singing songs.

Started out as a girl, became a burly man with a handlebar mustache, cried a manly tear, wiped it away with calloused hands hardened by my many years before the mast.

Britain may be small but it inspired the world. David does Britain justice.

Me and my friends have been singing sea shanties at the park of Friday nights disturbing the public. Looks like i found another absolute banger we can sing

I love how deep his voice gets for these. Shanties sound so much better with a deep voice unlike these rock remixes

In my experience at most sea music festivals the last song sung is "Leave Her Johnny".

A beautiful song for the sea. A hymn that comes from the heart.

David Coffin, you have a great voice!! And especially for sea shanties!! These lyrics are timeless and especially meaningful for these terrible times with the current war in Ukraine!!
