I really wanna buy the Hero 11 but I'm still just keeping around my Hero 7 as long as possible. I first discovered your channel when looking through KZfaq on "BEST GoPro Settings" after I bought my first GoPro, the Hero 7. And even in that video you had a best "raw" setting with a few tweaks if you were that person who didn't want to color grade in post. I haven't changed the "David Manning settings" since. And now here I am watching all your videos.

I've just bought a Hero 11 black and looking at some accessories now for motorcycling, live in North Scotland so have some great routes to film. Be fantastic to do a piece on settings best suited to motorcycling and maybe include mounts (chest V bar mounts etc) Thanks again James

You’ve convinced me to actually have a default everyday settings. I was shooting some “cinematic” underwater beach stuff the other day then went straight to filming low light (neon sign art) on the same settings by accident. Didn’t transition well. 🤣 You never tried Labs firmware?! 90% of it I haven’t figured out yet myself but scanning QR codes to quick switch stuff is neat! I recently couldn’t be bothered manually adjusting the time in my camera for Daylight Savings. So I just pointed it at the labs page with a live time QR code. Feels magic. You should totally learn how everything in Labs works & do tutorial as you learn.

Great idea about the QR settings! I can think of at least 20 setting scenarios that if there was a QR code, I could purchase that code and my GoPro would adjust automatically! Money making idea! Keep up the great work!

I use the QR codes quite a bit for my H9. The best part (in my opinion) is the minimum shutter control. So it can actually adjust but not get too "wobbly" in darker conditions. Still noisy, but not as wobbly.

Hopefully you're doing a follow up with the osmo action 3. I got mine the other day but as I write this there is no way to hook up an external microphone. If you know of a way I'd sure love to hear it.

You can use USB microphones, but there’s currently no way to use a 3.5mm microphone. The best mic I’ve seen so far is the Rode ME USB-C version👍

I'm using Premiere Pro right now, but I've been wanting to make the switch to Final Cut Pro X for a long time! It's a toxic relationship I have currently with Premiere Pro, being that it crashes and freezes up on me so often. But like all toxic relationships, I've invested so much time into it that it's tough to walk away from😑

I'd check out Davinci Resolve.... It has all in one color, sound, and all the other basic editing tools. It even includes a visual effects editor all for free and without waterstamp 🤟😎

My Hero 10 4k60 / GoPro Labs 180kb/sec / GoPro Labs 64bit files / Shutter 120 / Iso 100 / Flat / Natural / color 5300 to match my lighting Metal cage to reduce heat issues I shoot indoors wth a lot of studio light. I wish we had a good Log setting along with the 10bit on the Hero 11. I am in watch mode for the 11 as I want to be sure no issues. I avoid 5k modes because for indoors I feel it overheats too often in both 100kbps or Labs 180

Tap, Tap, tip had me frustrated for a full day. Could not get that to work. After seeing the same tip on another video I find I need to hold mode then tap record to cycle presets. Fantastic tip BTW.

30 and 60 fps actually takes same amount of space on gopro, cuz bitrate stauys the same. funny even resolution dont change file size MOSTLY, the only thing that really changes your recording size is bitrate setting ;

You asked, I answer: I finally heard the magic words: If your subject is backlit, bump the EV Comp up. I use my Hero 9 as a fairing-mounted camera for my motovlogs, and when I'm riding away from the sun, and thus backlit, I always appear too dark, while the sky and everything else is fine. Now I know to try bumping the EV Comp up a bit and see how it looks, so I'll try that this week! THANKS!

Solid question Kevin! The most recent GoPros are doing a lot to combat that super green tone you get while underwater, but if I were to take my GoPro diving, I would for sure still throw a red filter on there to help out. PolarPro has a set that's sweet > amzn.to/3rzdjL2

Help. Your settings are excellent and you're my go-to-guy with the GoPro 11. BUT I took my 5.3k 60fps into my video editor and everything slowed down to a crawl. 1 minute of this video took 23 minutes to load into my editor (I have all SSD drives). That's crazy slow. I got my old GoPro hero 9 black back out, shot a similar video, and it loaded into the editor fine (less than a minute). So, do I just keep using my GoPro 9 black and send the GoPro 11 back...or spend some big $$ to upgrade my computer so it can handle 5.3k at 60? I even tried the lowest settings on the 11 and it still took forever to load into my editor. 😞

That's super odd Robert. Which editor are you using? Seems odd that it can handle the Hero 9 Black without issue, but chokes on Hero 11. The file sizes should be fairly similar

@@DavidManningvlog Hi David, I'm using Video Pad editor. Hopefully will migrate over to DaVinci Resolve in the next couple of months. I'm so used to Video Pad that it's quick and easy for me. DR is a much bigger learning curve. AND I just bought a new, very fast computer with SSD's and Davinci loads anything I throw at it but the Videopad just can't handle 4k and almost dies at 5.3k and 60fps but it easily handles 2.7K at 60fps.

@@DavidManningvlog So many things. For starters the Hero 9 and the Max were very crappy and even more so vs their competition. Secondly, the Quik app is about the worst app out there. It is not user friendly at all. Lastly, the price for GoPros are ridiculous. If you buy from GoPro, you automatically pay $25US ($35CAD) for just the shipping! Plus, GoPro will not sell non US residents batteries as it’s against their policy now. So, why am I paying $50US (over $70CAD) subscription fee for accessories I want to buy but can’t. GoPro is probably very great to American buyers but outside of US, it is absolutely a rip off. Sorry about that rant but man feels good to get it off my chest, lol. I know GoPro is a subscriber to your channel and I hope they read this message. Congratulations on 300k subscribers! Awesome milestone!

Your computer might just be choking on h.265 compression. It's an incredible compression standard for recording video, unfortunately it means that your computer has to decompress that footage, which is a major drain on its resources

I was looking for someone to talk about 4k 8:7 because of the 60fps restrictions in 5.3k 8:7! Congrats for being the only one haha.. So this should be a great go-to for an “all scenarios” preset or am I wrong? (talking about 1080p/4k vid+social media all-round solution when you dont know what you’ll end up using for what)

I'm going to watch the video and give it a try. I've tried every setting and still on all my editing platforms my vids are rejected. All in all I don't like gopro. It's SUPER stubborn and just unnecessarily difficult. It's hard to connect , when it does connect it turns off your Bluetooth. Takes eons to download the videos, when you still have to save it to your phone then go on a another app to edit the video but resolution is never supported. Honestly I think it's just ideal for high action vloggers but otherwise, I've never owned an iPhone but I think I'd be better off with just a good iPhone cam or something idk 🤷🏾♀️

Hi there great video I found it very helpful because I’m kind of a beginner. I have a very specific use with my GoPro hero 10 and that is helmet camera on my dirtbike. I’m a set it and forget it person. I do have power Director as my editing software, but I really don’t do anything more than trim videos and throw them up to KZfaq, Facebook, Instagram. All of my videos are socal desert writing so it’s all very bright and fast motion. Are there any changes to the settings you would make based on what I am doing. Again, I want to keep it super simple and not ever have to change the setting. Thank you so much.

For some reason I’ve tried shooting on the slow motion mode but it doesn’t work is this just because my settings are set wrong or does this have to do with the SD card I got for it? excellent information. On a 7 black but most of your settings will still work . I use the QR control . If I'm on the bike I can quickly fire up my phone with QRcodes in my photos app. Simple enough as I have fingers that the gopro designers obviously feel are enormous as I make mistakes otherwise. Im fingers (fat and enormous apparently ) crossed on a david manning review of the hero 11 mini. Looking to get a new camera soon and its going to be a action3 unless the mini has what I need.
