Infiray got in touch to try out there P2 Pro camera that attaches to Android smart phones. Might as well compare it to the other Infiray camera in the Doogee and my Flir camera.
Lots of use of the word Pro today.

Really good and informative review on the P2 Pro mate. I’m just dipping into thermal and P2 Pro impressed me a lot .I can see this being the one I go for, so thanks for the review.

Hi, do you suggest the Macro one (P2 Pro +) or not macro. Do you think It can be used also stand alone for Drone Paiload use, maybe I need a circuit for Transmit the videos/Images on a separate receiver

This P2pro is much better than so many other cell phone thermal imaging cameras on the market. But it is too low-profile. There are not many videos of relevant reviews that can be found online. Thank you for making such a great video!

On the Infiray website for the P2 Pro, they says theres two image modes, a PiP and notably something call “Fusion mode,” that looks like an equivalent image of the Flir MSX. Is there anything on the app that resembles this “Fusion mode”?

It's amazing how small it is and the fact it has a better resolution along with the macro lens what's not to like, maybe in time they will sort out the software so it's less buggy. I don't think you mentioned it but is there an iPhone version or maybe an adaptor to make it fit. Thanks David.

I have a feeling that most of the problems are software related. No iPhone version at the moment.

I bet you could use the macro lens taped onto one of the other ones and it would work

So what if one gets a Flir used for 250 euros? Would one still prefer the cheaper P2 Pro?

What's the thermal sensitivity please? The old FLIRs were 50mK or 70mk. I can only see that these are accurate to plus minus 2C.

Since the P2Pro and S98Pro are using the same Infiray sensor I think the P2Pro is too expensive compared to the S98Pro. The difference is only €100 and for that extra money you're getting a great rugged phone and also a night vision camera. If the P2Pro drops to something like €150 I'll buy it.

I remember when the first 'affordable' Flir cameras came out. They were orders of magnitude more expensive than what we have now and with a lot, lot less resolution. I think in a few years this will be as common on smartphones as a wide angle lens.

Hey, I did got the first version of the Flir One... The battery is is big problem after few years, but not only cause besides the low resolution, the last software updates from flir reduced the quality and deleted some setting options (certainly to push people to buy the newer version)... So I'd rather not give my money to Flir anymore, especially with considering they're always the most expensive ones

@@DavidMcLuckie I got my P2Pro a few Weeks ago. Great, affordable and GOOD Thermal imgaing camera with 24Hz and a not so crappy resolution. I also Like the small Form factor of it a lot. Also, No Accu inside, so one thing less to break. The "Hot things overflow" is midigated with the High Range mode the App offers. Then the "QR Code" Style Stuff goes away. If they're gonna be as common as the wide angle? Probably not. But they get cheaper and better :)

Everything still feels like 30% too expensive for me. No matter the resolution and capabilities I always find price being around 30% too much compared to what I am comfortable with spending.

That weird "texture" that P2 does on too hot things looks like a bad QR code, I don't know why it does that, but it is quite distracting... :S
@jensharbers6702

The camera offers a "high range" mode to use on hotter surfaces. What they change? I don't know. Maybe add a small filter in front of the sensor or using less pixels. But that's on most or nearly any use case not a issue.

Okay, so here's some info for everyone. There are 3 types of thermal imaging available built in phones, in general. 1.: FLIR Lepton 2.5 80 x 60 resolution 8-9Hz framerate 2.: FLIR Lepton 3.5 160 x 120 resolution 8-9Hz framerate 3.: Infiray 256 x 192 resolution 25Hz framerate (advertised) Phones with 1: Blackview BV6600 Pro; BL8800 Pro; BV9800 Pro; BV9900 Pro; Ulefone Armor 9; Armor 11T Phones with 2: Ulefone Power Armor 18T; CAT S62 Pro Phones with 3: Doogee S98 Pro; AGM Glory G1S; AGM Glory Pro; InfiRay PX1 (rare and expensive) If you find another one, just comment below.

I had a Flir One which died (usual charging problem that wasn't fixed by new battery). I have the Seek compact pro which has specs of the Lepton 3.5. Looking around today, there are a couple of devices with the same specs as teh Infiray P2 Pro including the Topdon TC001. I'm looking for the cheapest one to play around with

@@choboutube If your sauce is add-on type thermal imaging, sure, these sound okay. I'd add to this list a Victor VC328 (there's A and B version, choose the B), it has Infiray P2 Pro specs. Way cheaper than the Topdon.

IMHO .... longer usb male on a plug in thingy in attempt to fit with a cover on...... creates instability when its plugged in the device and NOT sitting flush to the device.. or its cover...... and that causes instability which causes damage to one of the plugs be it female on device or male side of thingy. AKA lower life span of thingy and the device. Since how thick a cover is.... is a crap shoot...... the manufacture IMHO really has no way to know if their thingy's extended male... will end up flush to cover...... or not.... Thus, It creates an unknown that can cause them warranty issues. Or a complication in design such as the one you were comparing with that had the adjustable height male. Thus manufacture ends up being wiser to make the plug end sit flush to a device "when it has no cover on".... and provide a cable for when using the device that does not have a cover... Suggest if user will be using the thingy a lot..... they can modify their cover so the thingy will sit flush. Just IMHO of course.
