As a Guyanese and a Muslim convert I learned a lot about Guyanese culture in this video. Who would have thought you’d see a Guyanese president cooking his foods and eating simply on a plastic plate. No ears. May Allah keep him humble and guide his family.

President Ali is a role-model for the (so-called) Muslim leaders around the world. Down to earth, modest and approachable, these are the signs of a true Muslim.

As a Guyanese who has lived in the US for the past 30+ years, I'm very proud to see Guyana developing and taking its rightful place on the stage.

In sri lanka we call the coconut chukka, cocunut sambal (cocunut, onion, red or green chili, and lemon juice), usually we use pestle and mortar also we use the rock grinder too. Similar tradition to our south Asian culture. Respect 🙏🏾

I miss the cook up rice, legendary Pepperpot beef stew, Demarara rum,.and my friends in Bartica, New Amsterdam, Georgetown etc. Back in early 2000 Guyana was still underdeveloped country with lots of natural resources. I understand they discovered oil and hopefully the Guyanese will move forward. Bharat jagdev was the prez then.
