My grandparents were from Albania and had to flee to turkey during the war in 1913. I was born and raised in Germany but I never forgot where I’m from, I’m learning Albanian right now, know how to play qifteli and have been all over over Albania and Kosova. There are millions of Albanians in Turkey, who deny their heritage but I will never forgot where I come from! 🇦🇱🇦🇱

Shendetlije is one of the best Albanian desserts! Love it. Make it myself at home. Honey sponge cake with walnuts and sugar syrup. Unfortunately, honey is what makes it unique and here it's hard to find the kind of honey they have in Albania and Kosova! It must be raw unprocessed and flavorful!
