Love the box. Thank you for showing the wood splitting when you were chiseling the cutout for the hinges. It's nice to see that anyone can have a problem and that there is probably a solution so that the project can still be finished.

Ipe is a really tough wood to work. Please use. A mask with those exotic woods. I have scrollsawn for almost 40 years without a mask. I now have a 15-month cough and have not cut in 4 months. Dust for thought. Beautiful work.

I was searching for some ideas on how to wrap a box in leather because I want to add a pattern and I'm much better at stamping leather than engraving wood. I didn't think of doing it like this until watching your video. Beautiful! I'm going to combine it with another tutorial to create a dice tower box.

When you glued the hinge on before screwing it...I cried...because of how many times I've tried to dry fit hinges and completely fucked up the fit of the box.

Never seen rounded box joint corners before. They look really good - a great idea. Very good quality build.

Yo David, this is a nice project for that special ocasion, I was even thinking in making a few of them with the same procedure and one will have a padded cushion top, I really don't know why but women tend to use it to stick pins and needles when using it near the sewing machine. I like the idea of gluing the hinge after the lid and box are aligned. What glue did you use? NOrmally you would have to dismantle the box to finish it and then re-glue

beautiful box. I am thinking of using this box as an urn with slight modification like adding a picture area or a plaque. What is your opinion using this species of wood. I am looking for the longest lifespan species of wood for this project. Maybe other species?
