She made us very proud in the Netherlands, and this song touches us Dutch people because we know the meaning of the song as she sings about the battle we fight already for centuries against rising water (sea level) the Netherlands is mainly below sea level and so yes the sea is our biggest enemy with the rising water. (It killed already thousands of people)

This was the interval act on the first semifinal of the Eurovision contest 2021 in Rotterdam. Since we are a country with lots of land below sealevel its a tribute to the water. Fun fact de dam featured is the Oosterscheldedam, the mighty dam largest in the world that can withstand lots of meters of high tides to keep the land save behind it.

Hahaha, remember Nephi, that you were reviewing Dutch artists and used to ask something like: "is it something they put into the water that they have so many great singers/artists in such a small country?" The Netherlands has the best water management system in the world since it is the only country in the world that is below sea level. The video shows the imporant relationship between the country and the massive destructive force of water.

The song is about the relation between the Dutch and water. We live under sea level close to sea. We love the water, it brings us much, we hate the water because more Dutchies died in the past 1000 years by flooding than by all our wars combined (including the longest war of independence in human history). In the end, we respect the water and continue to defend against it with the best technology we can master. I think that was the message of the song.

The song is about the eternal struggle between the Dutch and the water, but also about all the good the water gave to netherlands. A kind of love hate relationship. The Netherlands have learned to control the ocean and rivers, without losing the respect the water deserves. The interval showed one of the modern wonders of the world: the Oosterschelde kering, part of the deltaworks. It protects the low lands against high tide and storms, but still lets the salt water through to protect the ecosystem in the delta

The song really is about two things, One: The fact so many in the world lack water, whilst others have more than an abundance of water and that we should try to share. Two: The horrors the Dutch have suffered from said water, the Disaster, yes for us in The Netherlands it's The Disaster(Watersnoodramp) of 1953, after a severe storm the sea defences of the Netherlands failed and almost 2000 people lost their lives due to the floods. After this, we Dutch decided to never again allow this to happen and we constructed the worlds largest and most elaborate sea surge defence system ever, called the Deltawerken(Delta Works) and the Zuiderzeewerken(Zuiderzee Works) which turned the Zuiderzee into the IJsselmeer(Lake IJssel) and created the land now called Flevoland, which is 545 sq miles of land conquered from the ocean. Nowadays many Dutch companies build dams and surge protections all over the world and even reclaim/conquer land from the ocean, for example in Dubai and we are regarded as the best hydro engineers in the world, which we all have to thank to our historical struggles with water and our connection to it. Hope I was able to elaborate it a little bit :D
