R.I.P. Davy, Peter and Mike. Thank you Micky for all you do to keep their memory alive, I’m glad you’re still with us

I was at Davy Jones memorial service in NYC backstage and Micky was inconsolable and wouldn’t come out of his dressing room. It broke my heart.

I still teared up with Davy & Peter gone. Still love The Monkee's Band and the songs.

Mickey Dolenz was always a class act as well as being a seriously good if underrated singer. I hope he takes the time to enjoy life to the fullest between tours with Nez. Take it easy Mickey. You've earned it friend.

I loved The Monkees and the Beatles and still do. I had a huge crush on Micky. In the early 70s I started a fan club for Micky. I somehow got connected with his grandmother Mene Johnson. I wrote her all the time. She was a sweetheart. I also wrote Micky. He was so nice. Wrote his sister Coco ans his wife at the time Sammi. A lot of love between Micky and his grandma. TheMonkees were put down a lot re their music...but people need to remember they were hired to play musicians in a tv show...they were not given a fair deal. I still love them!!!

Good old Mickey. Such warmth and dignity when in such shock.

Mickey always seems to come off as a genuinely nice guy, every time I see anything with him on.

i went to an autograph session a couple years which he,Michael and Peter were at. From my experience i found Mickey to be the most polite and down to earth of the 3 surviving Monkees after Davy died. i had never met Davy in an autograph session but from what i heard both him and Mickey were the most polite Monkees members of all.

Sad loss, and still so young at 66. RIP.

Davy was my first love. I was in fourth grade when the show premiered, and I fell head over heels for him. I saw them in concert twice as an adult. At one concert, I had second-row seats, and Davy actually winked at me. I almost fainted.

Micky is so real something people should learn these days sad,happy wonderful speech for a friend very heart warming

Micky was always my favorite! I am now 53 and I remember " The Monkees"...Classic times!

In a total of 9 years we lost 3 Monkees. Rip Davy, Peter and Mike

I remember the day I spent a couple hours with Davy for my 19th birthday in St. Louis. He was such a gentleman. I also met Micky that day too. Best day ever. I saw Davy before he died and he remembered me. AWESOME. I met Peter about 7 years ago. Got a pic with him. He was very cool.

That was a good interview. Mom and I were so shocked (like other people probably were) when we heard about Davy's death. We got to see Davy, Micky and Peter in their anniversary concert in the '80s. We couldn't believe that they started the tour in our city! Nobody like that ever comes here!

I was what would be called a 3rd generation fan, I think--when they had the 20th anniversary reunion during the 1980s. I'd thought that it was like, magic. I'd see the Monkees--as a trio--nine times in concert between 1986-2011 and Davy perform solo twice as well as meeting him in person twice. Davy presented himself as warm and genuine and that he truly loved and appreciated his fans. Not taking anything away from his band mates, he performed in concert with such energy, enthusiasm and interaction with the audience that one could mistake him for a person half his age--when he performed with Micky and Peter about 6 months before his passing, Davy was literally running around the stage! I think that this incredible energy and as Micky said, no indication of illness, really was what was shocking about Davy's death. Because I'd met him, this was very hard to believe that he was gone...I'd cried for months. Rest in peace David Thomas Jones..."I'll love you forever."

I loved the Monkees. Those were good times BACK then.

He looks like he's going to cry right at the end. Poor Micky, he lost a good, dear friend.

"Last Train to Clarksville", 'I'm a Believer", "(I'm Not Your) Steppin' Stone", "She" and "Words" et al... such great tunes. Simpler times to just be a kid.

Loved you guys when I was a teenager- you guys had the best songs and your TV show made me so happy!! Very positive themes. You were very unique- you produced top notch music without all of the irritating ego that came with rock music in those days.

I met them in Memphis during a concert, all wonderful. Miss you Davy.

I seen Davy Jones & Micky perform but not together! Davy came to the fair & I had played my tambourine in the autograph line! I had played exactly like Davy & while in the line Davy & all of the band member kept watching me!!!!!!!!!! When I reached Davy he asked me "Where did you learn how to play????" I said, "I taught myself!!!!" HE said, ""WOW GIRL YOUR GREAT!!" DAVY SIGNED MY TAMBOURINE!!! This was about 6 years ago!! Now in 2016 I saw Micky at The Casino in Turtle Lake!! Both guys had a wonderful show!!! Micky is so down to earth..just a swell guy!!!!! I liked them both..But OH YES.Davy was my very Favorited!! Daisy Mae

I had a huge crush on Davy Jones. I was a theatre student at Michigan State University during the time of the Monkeys and trust me they were much loved my the students of the Theatre Department. We had a TV in the lower floor of the Theatre building and it was automatically set to the Monkees every night of broadcast. We were all fans and the Monkees were well loved.

They were all talented!! I loved t hem God bless them all! Gave me happy vibes as a kid & even now!!!! Long live the monkees!!!

My wife and I watched the Monkees as kids in the early 80's. We've both loved their music and show. Now IFC is airing re-run shows that our 16yr old & 12yr old are now getting to watch and love. Thank you Guys for a great show. We'll all miss Davy. God Bless.

Thanks Micky, the thing I remember most is the four Monkees together back in the mid sixties. I have to thank you and all four Monkees, You all gave me a lot of good laughs and memories. I'm sorry for the loss of Davy, But I'm glad for the remainder of the group. I hope to meet you some day.

Micky looked so crestfallen at the beginning of the interview. I could only imagine how he was feeling.

Born in 72 but remembered them on TV reruns in the 70s.They had actually 4 or 5 really good songs.R.I.P. tithe three that have moved on and stay strong Mickey.

Davy was my favorite. I watched the Monkees reruns on Nickelodeon as a kid with my Mom. She was a Mickey fan.

as a youngster I loved the show and the band.

Michael Nesmith wrote a long piece about it on his Facebook page when Davy died and Peter did a tv interview as well as wrote something on his FB about it.

i had a dear friend and my moms best friend who did the same thing .she had no health problems. she died a month after my mom did, so you never can tell

I always loved the Monkees! Mickey was my favorite then, Peter, Davey then Mike. They were a great example for young talented musicians and families. They rock over the Beatles. Went to a Monkees concert in Seattle, WA when I was 13. It was pandemonium but wonderful too. After the concert I learned my mom and aunt briefly interacted with the Monkees outside the auditorium.

Each of the Monkees had talent, looks and tons of personality! They were all real professionals because if they didn't get along, they didn't make a big deal out of it or show it! Naturally some of them will be closer ...that's just how people are! I especially liked Mike's talent and humor in all his works, Mickey's lovely voice, comic wackiness and showmanship, and Davy's voice, looks and comedy ! Of course they were all very cute and good looking ! Peter was just adorable and great with his musical talent and love his moves! that boy can dance! lol...well he's not a boy anymore but he's still talented!

2020, I Just found out today that one of my 80's childhood tv star died In 2012! RIP Davy! 😭😭😭

It never ceases to amaze how stating that someone was a vegetarian is supposed to imply optimum cardiac health.

If I'm not mistaken, when Mike Nesmith "re-joined" the Monkees after Davy passed, when they were preparing to get ready for a gig, Micky said he would look for Davy and then he'd realize he wasn't there and would never be there again. Very sad. I'd met Davy in person about 2 or 3 times; he came across as someone who was warm-hearted and loved and appreciated his fans. I cried for many months after he died; I think after seeing him with Micky and Peter perform and especially after meeting him, it was extremely hard to accept that Davy had died. RIP Davy...always the original "Daydream Believer."

Last time I saw Jones was when he and his "locker" made an appearance on SpongeBob.

I agree with a lot of what you said, but it *is* worth noting that he didn't particularly want to tour until it was with his son. This doesn't say anything bad about him, particularly because it's been noted that he dislikes touring (in fact, it backs up the opinion that he's moved on with his life since the tv show), but it does raise the question of why, precisely, he's decided to tour with them now. Perhaps it isn't guilt, but touring may not be exactly what he individually wanted to do.

i love the monkees from looking at this interview and one tork gave micky looks much sadder maybe because they were a bit closer they were the actors but they were like a family for 2 years and all familys are disfunctional they all respect each other showed by nez finally joining them again and now peter and micky are doing many concerts but dolenz saying they're resting up for 50th anniversary hopefully with mike wit that being said it hard to not be close after being in a band together for 49 years
