Unnecessary exposition, as the producers thought. The movie hints at the whole process of cut-the-heart, become-captain enough for this scene to not be needed.

@@mileskessler2905 what you mean the scene where they just meet him on a little dingy and he explains how to do it? I get they wanted their scene with him and Elizabeth one last time, but this is the better scene. He'll been shown the character design ofc, and the Director will have done an amazing job getting bill to walk how a Human/Fish Homunculus would walk, talk and Express. Bill did this without a physical costume which just lays on how brilliant his acting is. Bill Nighy is fucking incredible in these movies. All these weird-ass facial expressions and pronunciations, he's so entertaining to watch, with and without the CGI. Imo Barbossa (Geoffrey Rush) was a better antagonist than Davy Jones. The reason Gollum (Andy Serkis) was such a great character is bc he was pitiable. Davy Jones is a box-standard villain, albeit a great one. I like villains who straddle the line btw good and bad. Just my 2 cents.
@jackieparmz
@jackieparmz Жыл бұрын
@@franknb7827we’re splitting hairs at this point if we’re comparing the performances of Serkis, Rush and Nighy. Each of those men are monoliths in the acting business that have set the standard for the believability of truly imposing characters. Tho I will agree with you that Jones is more of a standard baddie that was elevated to greatness by Bill’s performance, and that Rush’s Barbosa is much more compelling because of the nuance Rush brought to the character. The conflict he goes through throughout the series is stunning, and that’s all Geoffrey.

@@jackieparmz All 3 actors are powerhouses in their own right, nobody is denying that. I'd even go as far to say Nighy and Rush have more numerous and superior live-action roles than Serkis. But OP's point of contention is mo-capped performances and Serkis is on an entirely different level. There's a lot you can do (as an actor) with a gangly, grey, hunched over hobbit with a split personality disorder. Not so much a sea captain with an octopus for a head.

At World’s End is one of my all-time favorite movies. If this scene were in the finished film, it would vastly improve it. It rectifies so many issues with the movie. It gives Norrington more characterization, explains the heart replacement more elegantly, gives a satisfying yet depressing reason for Governor Swann’s death, shows off more of Jones’ sadism and villainy when most of the film casts him in a rather pathetic light, as well as showing him in a minor rebellion against Beckett, shows more of Norrington chafing under Beckett’s vile command, and is just incredibly paced and acted from all involved. I can think of no other deleted scene in film history that more deserves to be in the movie.

That is really a shame that they delete that scene because it would explain how Governor Swan , even been dead as we see later in the movie,knew about the heart of Davy Jones and also WHY Cuttler Becket decided to get rid of him. Otherwise, it didn’t really make sense.

Absolutely. In fact, the final film just establishes that he was asking many questions about the heart, but that makes no sense because the only ones who know that information were Beckett and Mercer. Implying that he talked about it with the soldiers is contradictory to the intention of not letting others to know the secret cause no one would dare to point the chest with a weapon.
