There is a reason why throughout the anime ending Lucy is the one in such pain. This song really speaks from her perspective to David. She betrayed him, embraced him, then withheld information that she thought would protect him but if she was able to express herself better things could of ended up very differently. Its extremely tragic to realize Lucy really is the main character. her backstory is far more tragic and in the way she was raised it made it hard for her to express herself in a healthy way which ended up hurting the one she loved most, but David gave her everything so she could move forward. Beautiful.

This song hits so hard for me, because it really seems like it's from both of their perspectives. David feels like he let Lucy down in the end, because she wanted him to live over everything else. More than going to the moon even, she wanted him to survive, and they both knew he was doomed when he put on the cyberskelleton. Lucy feels like she let David down for the reasons you listed. She tried to take too much upon herself to keep David safe, only to end up getting captured and sealing his fate.

David DID let Lucy down in the end. Very early on in the series her dream changes, the only thing she cared about was being with him, and the only thing she feared was his death. She reiterated that to him on multiple occasions, and the reason she was still diving was to keep him safe. He was barreling towards death-by-cyberpsychosis since the first seen we meet him, as he's watching the 32nd DB of just that. Lucy's ending is just as tragic. The life of a cyberpunk only goes two ways... and she was the second one

Just like with Maine, I don't think Lucy will move on. Maine unwittingly passed his trauma onto David, and David's passed it onto Lucy. We might not get a season 2 of Edgerunners but I get the feeling Lucy would go down some self destructive path, trying to take down Arasaka using her netrunner abilities.

@@spiderpsycho_8887 Pretty sure this is what's depicted in the outro from episode 1. I believe Lucy goes back to Night City and keeps diving. She spent her whole life running from them, never looking back even as her companions were gunned down. But not David. He infested her dream, and when he died, what was it. Arasaka won. Again. They took everything from her, and just as the moon was a symbol of hope, seeing the earth in the sky is a constant symbol of his ending, and hers. Even in this place - literally as far away as possible, she can't escape her doom. How could she possibly stay, with nothing left? She is an Edgerunner like any other. She came so close to escaping it, but in the end, even she had something to lose. This is spelled out starkly in David's conversation with Jimmy Kurosaki. He says: "It always ends one of two ways. You either lose yourself forever... Or die. No in-between." Not-coincidentally, Let You Down starts playing low at the end of this sentence. That's what the smile is about when Kurosaki dies. The show is about these two fates and their incapability for anyone who dared try and break free of their class. David dies, causing Lucy to lose herself forever. That's why it's a Greek tragedy.

Basically David's point-of-view farewell song to Lucy. If you look at the lyrics and take them in and then listen to the song, it hits hard. Or at least that's my take away. The song didn't hit me the same way until I saw the show all the way through and then went back and listened close to the lyrics in this song. Beautiful work here.

David tried so hard, but it was pointless from the start. The city had f'kd him over from the get-go. As soon as it became clear that his mother had to go as far as robbing and selling a Sandevestan to fund him an education in a corporate school so he could have a stable future, he was fucked. All of them were fucked. Night City fucks over everyone who isn't at the very top already. That is Cyberpunk's great and terrifying lesson.

I'll never forget the Night back around March when I almost lost My Step Mom due to her Having Cardiac Arrest while at a Hospital (Thankfully She Survived) & A Special Friend of Mines also had a Very Bad Day at Work resulting in Him Quitting for a Couple of Days... We watched The Anime for This Together and When we heard This Ending played that Night... It truly hit different for us Both That Night as we related to This Song. If I could describe it, It was like a Calming but also Bonding Moment like Lovers between Me & Him when we heard this play that night before we also finished the Anime for This that Same Night. Thus this Magnificent Piece of Art of a Song will always be Special to Me for that Reason. ❤

Walks the rest of the way home distraught after Falco drops her off, pauses to smoke to try and calm herself, breaks down screaming in the shower/tub, gets out and cries on the windowsill, can't run away from her pain of loss, then realizes David's dream for her to go to the moon. This ending has so much more meaning to it after watching the finale. Poor Lucy you deserve to be happy. (i thought it but i was too tired to write the whole shit so i took it since it matched my idea)

Idk but this series taught me a lot. Things essential to the functioning of society, "you eat or you are eaten". The end just tore me apart, but the reality of life, d**th, s*x, w**pons, society, distrust, love, all these things approached in a normal way, I felt at home wow.

The end credits just shows how broken down she is about the lost of her love, but we always have to move on from it but we still feel pain still and that people can let you down for a reason but David and Lucy were the legit top 5 couples that are great but RIP David, Rebecca, Maine, Pilar, Dorio and David’s mum. I SWEAR TO GOD WHY DIDN’T IT END ON EPISODE 7 THAT WAS A GREAT EPISODE TO END OFF WITH!!!
