Failure to do so risks destabilizing the country as well as the wider region.” - After the war has started and Mekele was taken by pro-Abiy forces, the Amhara region police chief, in what appears to be a celebratory speech, revealed how the region's police force guided federal steel-clad mechanized forces to join the conflict. On *Nov 3*, a well-known pro-Abiy activist, Natnael Mekonnen, with 267k followers on Facebook alone, prematurely celebrated the seizure of a hotel, where he claimed TPLF leaders were usually found, after 2000 special commandos entered the city of Mekele. He later deleted the post. An Antonov containing dozens of Abiy's forces landed in Mekelle unannounced. They were apprehended by Tigray's security forces and released after investigations of the incident. Later it was said the Antonov landed there "Mistakenly". There are 2 more important things to note here: - Nov 3 was the date where the US elections were held and everyone knows much of the world's attention would be on the election. - All communications in all parts of Tigray were cut starting from Nov 3. The government has been claiming they were cut by TPLF.
