This song is about Hans Johnson, a soon to be retired, always punctual, reliable and collegial employee and all-round good guy. He was always happy with himself and his work, he had his job, his task, his vocation and his passion. He painted the median strips on highways for 50 years. He was a state-certified central reservation designer. But now he was 67 years old and retirement was approaching. Should he look forward to retirement because that's what people did? Because that's what everyone does? Because he now had time alone with himself and the aches and pains of old age. What else should he do in this free time, should he look for a hobby? A wife? Should he buy a caravan and drive it around the world? He didn't know. But then his buddy Manfred showed him a rave party. It was Hans Johnson's first rave party. Because of his 48-hour week plus overtime, he simply didn't have time for such frivolities. And he was blown away by this exuberance and this unique dance style. Now he had a goal, a purpose! From now on, all he wanted to do was party hard and rave the day away. He bought himself bell bottoms and a neon yellow vest, which he wore all the time. He quickly made a name for himself on the dance floor as Raving Hansi. And so he danced happily for the rest of his life. He died of a heart attack at the ripe old age of 68. But he did what he loved.
