The DE shoul've tried to use only the warp beast with the Wytch squad against the heavy weapons teams instead of using the Scourge with the lance, this way they maybe could've won this.

One priest to win them all

I love the game, but it saddens me how weak and micro dependent DE is to even up the fight against other races in the mid and late game. I mean, you only win if you cheese right, because if you don't you might aswell quit the game right away. I mean, I love the faction and I wish I could have the micro skills to make it work late game, but it seems actually IMPOSSIBLE to make it work.

Dark elder was good, but faction is too weak

DE idle for too long and allowing IG to take the map when they had more than enough to deny such a thing. Didn't see many global abilities used by DE either. Definitely threw the game away when they were in a winning position I think, allowing the priest free reign to destroy half the base before reacting... This game nots truly balanced but DE are formidable to play against idc what anyone says, even if they are hard countered in t2 by most races as you've said t1 power gives them the ability to eco harass and deny t2 completely. Heresy grows from idleness.
