Here is the best way to decide which group to side with: if you are a Mage or Spellsword who is good with Destruction Magic, then the Vampires are the best bet, same goes with a thief or assassin, as being a vampire helps your Sneak and Illusion. But if you are more of a warrior or Battlemage who is good with Restoration, then the Dawnguard is the better choice for your skills. Since all of the Dawnguard's undead-harming spells are Restoration, it's the best choice. And make sure to pick up the Necromantic Healing spell in Dimhollow to heal Serana. Also, make sure that before you head to Castle Volkihar with her, to get at least 1000 gold, so you can get a spell called heal undead from one of the vampires. This is the only time you can get it if you join the Dawnguard. Good luck, Fellow Dragonborns, and have fun!

Annoyingly, unlike the Volkihar quests, there is at least 1 Dawnguard quest that requires high pickpocket skill.

Actually it’s not any different than what Serana wears, or the female version of the vampire royal armor that can be found in game for anyone to wear. It’s like any armor in the game, skin changes depending on gender, and there’s multiple of it.

you forgot the vampire amulet of bats amulet of gargoyles do g of the beast and a ring for magic you get then by completing lots of side quests for the vampires .amulet of bats=enemy's nearby get attacked by bats .amulet of gargoyles summons two gargoyles instead of one. ring of the beast=+100 health and claw attacks do more damage.magic ring (I forgot the name)=+100magic and magic regenerates faster. And vampire lord turns u into an insane unkillible beast.Its obvious you weird with the dawnguard and didn't mention the vampire powers you probably aren't going to read this because this video is old but I wrote this for other viewers so they know which side to pick .if anyone read this well done :-) BTW vampires are better.

Ring of Erudite plus 100 magicka and regen dependent on your regen skills already. Ex if your regenerating at 12 times normal rate with Vampire Royal and Moreaki it ups it to 20 times very good ring which makes the Volkihar clan the only choice for Light armor mages, particularly effective class as a Dunmer.

hey I have a suggestion for the aetheral crown wearing a falmer helm allows you to wear a circlet enabling the use of a helm while having 2 standing stones

I'm trying to find the video where you side with the vampires. go back to dawnguard and get cured , do their quests so you can get the dwemer crossbow and other unique items. then go back to harkon and restore your "Gift" so you can do the vampire quests while still benifiting from most of the dawnguard side. that might not be exactly how it is done but that is the general idea. I really need to find that video again, it went into greater depth in how to do it

one thing you did miss was if you kill knight paladin gelabor you get another set of falmer armor. with a different curass instead of the otherone. they aren't terribly different outside of looks. but just thought I should mention it

There is a hidden item that spawns randomly in 4 different locations, one of them being Mossy Glen Cavern around Fort Dawnguard. It's called the Ancient Falmer Crown, and goes with the Ancient Falmer set, but you don't get full armor benefits with it. It's hard to find, and there are a few cases when it doesn't appear at all. But I did find it in the XBox 360 version, so it is in the normal game.

Yeah, it's obtainable. But it's the hardest item to find. I've found it myself, and it's location is randomly generated when you start a new game from the 4 chest locations. If you can find all 4 locations, then you could always find it. But nobody knows all the locations, that I know of.

Isn't possible for it to spawn on the snow elf you get the armor from in the first place, an if it doesn't spawn on him the cave is the only way to get it I've heard..... never found it myself

I found a dawn guard op 1 handed hammer go to the cave where the armor trolls live and if you see a water fall jump down it but make sure you have bows or crossbows with ammo you will need them

Thanks for this. I like to play as a Dawnguard Vampire it's possible through certain dialogue. Ive only done it once but done the regular a few times. For years I've been working on an ultimate story for my character I've had to go back to the original ES to do so. I'm a Spellblade so Dawnguard is more reasonable for my roleplay. In my story, my character is basically a pawn of the Empire, throughout ES you find this out. He's immortal through an unknown influence and the Empire had made use of that. Skyrim is found to be a great opportunity to find freedom. As Ulfric ask why would an outsider want to fight for Skyrim. Reasons are my own. Finds he's Dragonborn and becomes one of the most powerful vampires in existence. A chance for freedom. For now.

You missed the vampire relics, you get amulets of night for certain vampire lord powers and rings of blood for blood magic in vampire lord form.

I crafted the aether crown. There are 2 staffs in the game including the aether one that can summon Dwarven automatons. The shield is pretty useless in my opinion since u can't damage the guy and he runs away. The crown allows u to use 2 stones so I say it's the most useful item in time in need. Plus it looks badass. And this is my opinion btw.....

The runic axe, and hammer do not require a quest to obtain. You can obtain them when you first enter fort dawnguard.

There are comments on Google that upon starting Downguard I should be given crossbow and some pieces of the Downguard armor, I reloaded several times now and there is definitely nobody wanting to give me anything, only conversations about why they joined and what I need to do. I do have dragon armor and weapons on me and I wonder if that is why?

im pretty sure that the dragon bone bow with dragon bone arrows has higher damage than the enhanced dwavern crossbow with dawvern bolts but however you can use exploding bolts witch makes it not much better but still a little bit so it's mainly preference

The enhanced dwarven crossbow, when fully tempered, has a higher damage than any weapon in the game. Plus, with it being a Dwarven weapon, it makes it easier to find the tempering ingredients. And if you enchant it with an absorb health and Stamina enchantment, you can boost the damage even more, while helping you heal and get endless eagle eye zooms.

The dragonbone bow, with dragonbone arrows does have slightly higher base damage, but the enhanced dwarven crossbow ignores 50% of armor and can use enchanted crossbow bolts on top of the regular ability to enchant the crossbow itself. It does hace higher potential damage, but it takes much more time to load the crossbow than it does to fire an arrow so with the right perks an archer with the dragon bone bow will hit the target two or three times before the crossbow can fire a second shot. Not to mention the crossbow is louder when fired making it harder to sneak attack with. Really it comes down to play style

No, but there is a full set of Falmer Hardened Armor in Mzinchaleft, in the vanilla game. Head there to look for it. I'm sure there's a guide for it on KZfaq somewhere.

I chose vampires, and now I regret it. I thought I would get cool things. I was wrong. I prefer being a werewolf anyway, but the dawnguard still attack me even though I'm not a vampire anymore! The only cool thing is summon dunhevir, which is fun in Dwarven ruins... Though ineffective because he can't fly and can't defeat centurions

The undead dragon can fly, I think if u summon the undead dragon b4 the battle begins, he (undead dragon/Durnaver) (I don't think that's how u spell it tho) will b a lot more powerful... I think I would have to test that 1 out tho

Honestly, I prefer a female Dragonborn because the Vampire Royal Armor looks better on her compared to the male Dragonborn. Female Dragonborns I make two saves for: One for siding with Isran, and one for siding with Harkon, so I can have a save file that grants me access to the bonuses from both sides of the main quest: One with the Dawnguard, and one with the Volkihar Clan. Plus, don't forget the unique apparel that can be gained from siding with the Volkihar Clan: The Amulets of Night Magic and Rings of Blood Magic.

Blazeingguns The commentator Return to the Forgotten Vale, and speak to Knight-Paladin Gelebor. He will give you 20 Sunhallowed Elven arrows for 20 regular Elven arrows.

Bro you're not completely wrong when you said the Enhanced Dwarven Crossbow is the most powerful archery weapon but partly wrong simply because for some reason the bolts are a bit heavier and can't shoot as far as arrows and crossbows shoot louder than bows (meaning you can't snipe stealthily as well with a crossbow. Basically imo it's a short to medium range weapon). All very situational but bows are for repetitive attacks but as loading screens say a crossbow's first shot is very deadly. Just do what I do, carry both but just use enhanced DCrossbow when fighting armored fucks. Oh and Crossbows shoot faster but bows reload faster :)

The only reason i joined Harkon's side was so i could get all 11 vampire lord perks for the achievement/trophy ik,ik i could just contract the disease 'Sanguinare Vampiris.' People will start to attack you from that disease...but if you join the Harkon's side they act normal More or less O.o

It can probably rationalized by the difference in strain. There is lore and dialogue on the subject, and someone says how the normal vampires who live near cities are savage.
