I discovered Dawson’s Creek over the past half year after it became available on Netflix, and I can’t believe that I just finished the last episode earlier tonight. It has become one of my favorite shows and I really fell in love with the characters. Even though this show is before my time, it gave me an odd sense of nostalgia, an escape from reality, and a longing for simpler times. I’m a college student and over the past semester I’ve gone through some fairly rough times, and, if nothing else, this show got me through it.

It is one of the few teen drama TV shows I couldn't crap on when it was airing originally because even though they were way older than teenagers it actually felt like a realistic dramatic stories from drug problems, relationship problems, and so on it wasn't a party of five but it felt more like picture perfect looking don't always mean happy and healthy

I was in 8th grade when it first aired and I remember being so excited every week for a new episode. God I miss getting excited over small stuff! I miss those simpler times,reminds me it's okay to ignore ppl if you don't feel like talking bc only 20 years ago you had to call ppl and now ppl just expect to be able to interrupt what ur doing and reply immediately,stop giving everyone exclusive access!

@@Rebecca-zh1yt Let me ask you a question: what would you think if John Wesley Shipp & Margaret Mary Humes (Gale & Mitch) were to executive produce a prequel movie that centers on Gale and Mitch and hot they met, got married, and after almost giving up on trying to had kids finally had Dawson. We can also get to meet Joey's mother Lillian Potter and see how she and Gale became such good friends; we can also see how Grams and Helen had a big fallout leading to Helen running off to New York to marry Theo Lindley.

The first scene of the series was in Dawson's room establishing their characters innocent brother/sister relationship that was changing yet in a way they were too close no true mystery, the second scene was the one of Pacey/Joey and establishing their characters love/hate relationship and how they had so much to explore to get to truly know each other, the third scene was of Jen's arrival and establishing her characters place on the show and with the group! Everything else in this show basically built from those three scenes! In the end if you really look at it the relationship that truly evolved the most was Pacey/Joey's because the beginning was all about how much they "hated" each other and the end was all about how much they "loved" each other! It really was a brilliant transformation from beginning to end! The writers may have never meant for the characters to be end game but the way they set up the beginning scenes they really eventually had to go there because there was so much more of a evolution they could take with Pacey/Joey than Dawson/Joey! The love/hate relationships are always so much more powerful and angsty!
@voxy6865

I personally never felt like Joey and Pacey had any chemistry together. I hated them as a couple and expected it to be short lived. I feel like the writers got it all wrong in the end and really the last 2 seasons altogether.

I was obsessed with this show when I was 11. I saw myself as Joey, my "soulmate" as dawson and this guy i had a crush on despite believing i would marry my boyfriend, as Pacey 😂😂 Of course as I grew up and once the college episodes started introducing so many new people, i stopped watching....but when the series finale was on, i called my best friend and we watched it on the phone together and freaked the hell out when she didnt choose Dawson. Its funny that for the series finale, they kind of went back to basics, people who hadnt watched the last few seasons werent confused or lost for the most part because it was about who joey would end up with. When she ended up with Pacey i was way too bothered😂 my boyfriend was like "but why do you care"😂

Because the writers wanted a show that teenagers actually wanted to watch that portrayed them as smart and crushingly self-aware, which a lot of intelligent teens are. Instead of being like everything else prior, which basically reduced teenagers down to impulsive hormone-slave stereotypes, that can't think past the end of their nose. This isn't the cheerleader and jock drama for teenagers, this was much more the intellectual and romanticized version of re-telling. Kevin Williamson wrote Dawson as himself. He's the narrator and he's intelligent. So the story is told through his lens and his vocabulary. Despite all the supposed flack it gets now, most people that watched and liked the show back in the day (and there were a lot, especially the first 4 seasons) appreciated that someone finally made a show that dealt with a lot of real teenage relationship issues and situations, and the kids were given credit for having more thoughts and feelings (and being able to verbalize them) than "Gee I hope we win the big game and I can make out with the QB afterwards". Or you know, as we all called it, 90210.

Netflix doesn’t use filler songs by no name artists. Netflix uses the dvd versions of the episodes. Starting in Season 3 onwards on the dvds the original music was replaced so the the high licensing cost. And replaced with new music picked about by the same person who picked the music originally. The theme was changed to the international theme song Run Like Mad which was written for the show.
