Our appetites reveal a lot about who we are. God has made us with a desire for significance. He has put within us a hunger that can only be satisfied by Him.
Too often in my life I have found myself turning to food when I really need God’s comfort. I find myself standing by the pantry wanting to fill up my need. Or turning on Netflix to escape from my life. Do you have things that you turn to rather than God when you feel anxious, afraid, or even bored?
The deceptive sugar of this world will never fill you. Like cotton candy, it may taste good for a moment, but it quickly melts in your mouth, leaving a residue that causes spiritual decay. We need to develop a healthy appetite for God. He’s the One who will satisfy your deepest hunger. You will hunger for what you have been feeding on. Feast on God.
