😅I’ve just finished my apprenticeship aged 66 (!). Your video featured every bit of kit on my belly for the last 2.5 years, including Fatmax tape - are you physic. My only concession was a Stilleto 15 titanium hammer which kind of blew the budget but has saved me from more pain.

Also the best tape measure is without a doubt the Milwaukee wide blade.

When I was a hammer hand over 15 years ago one of my largest investments was a Paslode framing gun, still have it today unfortunately the battery won't hold change. Also I would be more open to more tool brands, I know most builders these days like Milwaukee and if you follow suit you will have everyone asking if you have a spare battery. It wouldn't hurt to go with one of the other TTI brand's like AEG but probably not Ryobi, DeWalt has always been a solid professional trade choice also.

I work in gas, am a hobbyist woodwork and like building stuff, and agree with all what you said, currently building my deck and use every hand tool you've mentioned plus power tool at every stage. One mistake I made early on, when I was working at a different company was to buy AEG. The tools held up well enough for the price point, and most of the guys I worked with were on that platform so good for needing to borrow a battery etc, but the problem i've got to is that the range isn't big enough and although ridgid have plenty in America and are the same tool they aren't bringing a lot of it over here. They seem to have given up on nz to be fair. The other problem is that it can only be bought at bunnings, and with no competition prices are going up for the same tools. I've started migrating over to Makita for all of those reasons, still at a good price point, much better range, and can shop around to get what I want at a good price. My only gripe is that for whatever reason Makita just won't release an 18v gasless framer and it keeps me up at night! Luckily my old paslode is holding up, but if it breaks before it's time to re-do my fence i'll be like a lost puppy!! When it comes to table saw and drop saw though i've gone DeWalt and couldn't be happier! Cheers

Yeap, can't argue with that in this day and age. You left out nailers though, Personally I reckon you are going to need one as an apprentice, at the very least a framer of some brand or another, there's nothing worse than having to borrow someone's framer all the time. I've got pretty much the exact same gear you have on the belt (good rule, fat max tape, 19oz Estwing framing hammer, which is new after my 22oz Milwaukee fell off the back of my truck down the Awanui straight, Fat Max basher chisel, the one with the edge up the side, nips, Tajima knife, and my pencil is one of those Pica mechanical pencil copies by Ox), I would add a set of small Knipex speed grips to that belt, because they are super useful, and they can double as a nail puller in a pinch. I'd also add a dog bar (Estwing, Fuller, Dogyu, Stiletto if you have the coin). I went with Milwaukee as well, more because I still do a lot of mechanic shit and they have gear for that which other brands don't. Got the framer (great gun but too heavy), drill, half inch impact, 12v Hackzall, 12v stick light, 12v stapler, 12v mini polisher/sander (which has saved my ass a couple of times), got an old Ryobi drop saw that I resurrected a couple days ago (hand me down from the old man), electric planer, router (which broke), corded Makita skilly that I found at the dump, my old sander from my car painting days, and a 4 inch corded Makita grinder. I did buy a cheapie corded Smack n Pecker skilly and put a PCD blade on it specifically for cutting Hardies (has a little vacuum port on the back, perfect for cutting that shit). It doesn't cut timber square whatsoever but its just fine for Hardies

How often do people carry generators, extension cords, and battery chargers on hand for some costumer site work?

I'd add a Dogyu bar and a fine vivid. Plus an engineers punch. They're longer and easier to use.

Depends what type of carpenter you are, never wore bags with nails in front of me, always on the side.
