Are you being terrible enough to your main character?
If your protagonist is going to change and turn into a person that does impossible stuff, things are going to have to get really bad first.
As Kurt Vonnegut famously said, "Be a sadist. No matter how sweet and innocent your leading characters, make awful things happen to them-in order that the reader may see what they are made of."

Remember that tomorrow is a rest day. Use this time to let your mind catch up with you. In your rest, your brain will begin to bring all of the pieces together. Give it space to do its thing.
