This is my 2nd year of the Bible in a Year and my first year traveling with Father Mike in the Catechism in the Year. Each day brings me so much joy. I often think what am I going to do next year when this is all done. Simply I’ll go through it again. Thank you Father Mike, for bringing such joy each evening when the house is quiet, to a weary soldier in Christ. God Bless you!

It’s also in Jewish culture that if Jesus had had a blood brother he would NOT have given Mary to John. So by giving his mom to John proved he had NO blood brother’s. God bless. Praise Jesus and Mary always!!! Ps you hear Steve Ray mention this.

In the King James Version, they name Jesus' brothers. Of course they're half brothers, same Mother different Father. Mark 6:3. Same verse talks about his sisters but does not name them.

Very good input!! I believe It's all in the translation. It has been noted time and time again, that the translated word 'brethren' usually denotes fellow Kin, such as cousins or people who are very close to him, like a brother and shouldn't be taken literally. Too many people take everything stated exactly by the word

Lord Jesus, I humbly pray for myself, Father Mike, & all the people participating in the Bible-in-Year podcast. May your word take deep root in our hearts & transform our ways of thinking, deciding, and acting. May your grace open our ears to hear & understand God's voice in the Scriptures that we may revere & treasure both the Old & the New Testaments which God has prepared for all who desire to enter his kingdom. Send us your Holy Spirit to give us the Spirit of Knowledge, that we may know God and know ourselves. Give us the grace to approach the Word of God with meekness & humility, & with an eagerness to do everything God desires. Help us to be diligent students & faithful disciples of your Word. May our hearts never grow dull & may our ears never tire of listening to your voice. Amen.

Just wanted to get on here today and say hello all, beautiful day in England, we have a bank holiday weekend because of our Queens 70 year reign !! Lots of celebrations going on, she has a deep faith and has done a magnificent job serving this country. I think it was in Fr Mikes homily last Sunday when he said he was proud to be an American, I love my country and the freedom we have. I am going to do something typically English and have strawberry jam and a cream scone with a pot of tea. When you think of Britain what do you see? When I think of the U.S I think of wide open spaces, cowboys (Butch Cassidy is one of my favourite films) hamburgers coffee and Disneyland. Hope your day is blessed today BIAY community, sorry none of this relates to the reading, but I just feel happy and wanted to share ! thanks.

I love Father Mike and Jeff for making this journey possible. I do, however, disagree with the “church’s” explanation of blaspheming against the Holy Spirit. “For they had said he has an unclean spirit.” Jesus was the embodiment of the Holy Spirit. He was working miracles by the power of the Holy Spirit. They committed the unforgivable sin by saying he was working miracles because he has an unclean spirit. That is calling the Holy Spirit unholy. Saying that we have to accept GOD’s forgiveness to be forgiven, is an important recognition, but it doesn’t give license to do whatever we want.

QQ: It is curious that people would be stoned, could it be a metaphor that the stones that people threw to stone people are the perceived sins that they were guilty for both from the crowd and within oneself. Either way... I need to release myself of these stones to be an effective ... mustard seed. For this I pray. God Bless you Fr. Mike.

Now I know there are other media sites promoting this, but that seems like a massive drop doesn't it? I just wanted to give a huge shout out to people who are so dedicated to Jesus Christ who ended up finishing the Bible in a Year and for those who are still determined to finish it. Though people's actions, Jesus is not a fad, He is life! 🙏

10:09 Father in heaven, we give you praise and thanks. And, we just honor you and love you for the gift of your son, Jesus, and for the gift of knowing, here is his teaching, here is heart, here is your heart because he is the word, the word of the Father. When we see him, we see you, Father in heaven, and so we thank you. Thank you for every one of these moments that we get, every one of these clips, I guess, images we have of Jesus here in Mark's Gospel. Thank you for Mark. Thank you for Peter who taught Mark this, and thank you for you, Lord God, because you are deserving of all thanks and all praise in everything. In Jesus's name, we pray, Amen. † [...] 12:42 [Important note for me (and for you maybe)] The next quick thing about the Sabbath that I just wanted to highlight is, I was reading a commentary by Dr Mary Healy. She's just phenomenal. I think I might have mentioned her yesterday and she just says, "all these healings, that happen on the Sabbath that Jesus keeps getting accused of, why wouldn't he just avoid the Sabbath? Why would he... It seems like he's almost intentionally doing this king of provocation on the Sabbath. He could have done it the day before, he could have done it the next day. Why on the Sabbath?". And she posits and puts forth the idea that actually Jesus is doing this intentionally. Because remember yesterday he said, "is the Sabbath made for man of man for the Sabbath?" That Jesus says, "I'm the Lord of the Sabbath." Basically Jesus is revealing his Lordship by exercising his Lordship on the Sabbath day. He's undoing the effects of sin and he's inaugurating a new creation by which humanity is restored to the fullness of life that God meant from the beginning. And that is what Dr. Healy had said that, "Jesus thereby fulfills the original purpose of the Sabbath, which is to bring humanity into communion with God." So that's why Jesus is spending this time healing and doing these works on the Sabbath. It's not just I'm breaking rules for breaking rules sake. It is, I'm revealing my very identity and I'm demonstrating the whole purpose of the Sabbath, which is to bring humanity into covenant, bring back into covenant, back into communion, with God himself. Which is just good to know.

I feel "seen".... for a bit of context, I play an online game where I have made Christian friends who are not Catholic but different denominations, respectively. A few nights ago we were sharing stories and talking about our Lord. In the midst of the conversation one of the ladies talked about Jesus growing up and naturally Mary came in to the story. She mentioned his "brothers" but obviously she didn't mean it as in "brethren", she meant it as his flesh brothers. Now, when I was going through RCIA months ago we had already learned that of course he did not have any flesh brothers. Sadly, I just sat there and said nothing even when I wanted to. I let myself be silent for the fear of "stirring something up", and also because I thought I am still not very well versed to discuss/defend what I am learning to be true. I had been feeling down about it and well like I said I feel seen and called out of course. I didn't speak the truth when it was needed and that dishonors the Lord. The fact that in this same video it was also discussed about our Lords "brothers". Wow.

June 4, 2023 Round Two Please pray for Souls in Purgatory. Go ahead, just take about 30 seconds to help save a soul that maybe is your family member or friend! Go forth and help save! Here is the prayer: (According to tradition, St. Gertrude the Great was told by Our Lord that each time she piously recited the following prayer, it would release 1,000 souls (or a vast number) from their suffering in purgatory.) The Prayer of St. Gertrude Eternal Father, I offer Thee the Most Precious Blood of Thy Divine Son, Jesus, in union with the masses said throughout the world today, for all the holy souls in purgatory, for sinners everywhere, for sinners in the universal church, those in my own home and within my family.
Amen. God would reply to St. Gertrude that He would use whatever was offered to Him for the faithful departed, according to His inclination to show pardon & mercy.

Fr. I love your teaching and I hope to listen to all 365 days. But today you said that we are ADOPTED sons and daughters of God. If God breathes life into us then we become true sons and daughters of God . No one is adopted!

I see this as though we are adopted sons and daughters of St Joseph and Mother Mary. Since Mary is Quenn of the Universe.

Adopted or true sons and daughters of God, what difference does it make, either way, we were chosen by God.

Absolutely. I have adopted children and they are never referred to as adopted. They are my children. That's how they see it too. We are all God's children.

Absolutely ! God created all the creatures of the world. God created humans too but he breathed HIS breath of life into humans so this makes us all his children. He is our Father. We are not adopted!

Is it true that Mary the mother of Jesus stayed with John in Ephesus until her death. Ephesus is in Turkey and they have pictures of Mary everywhere in Ephesus 🙏💖

I believe this is based on visions of the mystic Anne Catherine Emerich. There is a place in Ephesus called her home that you can go to today. ❤️

It says more clearly in Mark 15v40 about James and Joses being his relatives, not else where

I have a question...if anyone can explain to me... God made us in his image and he is the father of every person on Earth then why are we adopted? I know the Jews where the chosen ones but I'm confused here. Thank you for any reply.

If Jesus had brothers and sisters don’t you think it would have been recorded in the Bible -especially Jesus? Not only would we have known Jesus’s lineage, but the Bible being the book on lineage to exhaustion, would have known their names who they married their concubines, and the names of their sons and daughters, as well. This is not recorded and if He did have actual siblings would’ve had been for sure!
